This is a stupid damage event.
Not because it is impossible but it happens more than it should and because we can not use the engines independently to stir it should be eliminated, IMO.

Has some one done just that and I am unaware of it?

If so where, or what, is it? Or, if not, can it be fixed?

I have counted this a being sunk and start over but that seems unrealistic.

If you can't turn you can always use 'Return to Base'. It takes away the renown you would have gotten, but at least it gets you home.

Yes, but thats no possibility if you are playing with the excellent NYGM TW Mod.

Really? What happens if your rudder goes and you end up in an endless loop, like what happened to me once? Only way out was to simulate a tow and return to base (I was suitably away from any enemy fortunately). I would still think that was OK, albeit not 100% realistic either. But better than having to sacrifice your career.

I play 100% so there is no way to do anything but start over.
I was asking if a file could be modified so only one rudder was possible to be damaged.
I have had 3 or 4 careers end with this. I even sailed to Norway once but not close enough to a base to end the mission which I am sure would have saved a boat in real life.
I have a zero tolorance for anything on a career as even bad luck was a part of reality so I will continue to end a career from this but would rather make a mod that fixes this to consider the fact a real boat would be able to stir with its motors.

It's Possible with the Zones.cfg!

Sadly, i don't Know How!

But in that file you can Somehow set the Hitpoints for The Rudders so Much that it is Nearly Impossible for them to Get Destroyed!

That's true, but then you are kinda making yourself invincible. At the least you'll know that your "right rudder" will never get damaged or destroyed. But, I suppose it's still a workaround for anyone that can justify it.

I have never had a rudder destroyed. When it gets damaged, the endless looped message: "Rudder port damaged, sir!": message goes on....and I forced to end the scenario!  Damn

Hardly.

Since you can not stir with your engines like you would in real life making this so it better has more real options is not invincible. Besides, what I would want is to partially disable this like only destroy one rudder so you are hurt.
The way it is now you are basically sunk with no chance. In real life that would not be the case.

As I said, if you can justify it to yourself, go for it...
