The only trouble I have ever had was in ordering items (books & music) which are no longer being published- Amazon say oooh, 4-6 weeks for that, last time I ordered something that was out of print it kept being deferred by amazon until after 12 month's I got pissed off and canceled my order.
So they're fine if it's something easily available or new, but they are next to useless for anything older or slightly rare. |

I experienced the same excellent service when I purchased a multi-region DVD player for my mother which turned out faulty. I simply repacked it and swapped it for a different one and the whole process only took about 4 days with no fuss.
Another thing about Amazon that I like is the fact they don't bill your credit card or account until after the goods are actually shipped. It bugs me with some online retailers that bill you as soon as you place the order and you don't see the goods for another 4-7 days. :nope: |

I've shopped with Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk and never regretted it. Only once did I have a problem. They sent me a CD instead of the book I'd ordered. I sent it back and got a nice apology email, along with a money off token for my next purchase.  |

I have had several occassions in which I used a check rather than a card. In every case they didn't ship until the check cleared. On the other hand, each seller told me that would be the case in advance, so I had no complaints.
So, no, it's not a law.
I too have used Amazon many times with no problems. |
