No prob Jap Lance, your English is just fine. Yeah I was thinking it's your basic North Sea camo as she's an auxilliary ship (sub tender HMS Bonaventure).

Re: she's an auxilliary ship (sub tender HMS Bonaventure).
I see you like auxiliary ships...
How about this. Former Yugoslavian sea plane tender Zmaj renamed by Germans to Drache and converted to helicopter carrier.
Mostly used as a mine layer and fast troop transport.
Transporting troops
Drache under attack by RAF Beaufigher in September 1943.
She survived this attack. Eventually Beaufighters got her a year later, i.e. in September 1944. |

they do add some variety to an anchorage. The Bonaventure interests me because she's the depot ship for the British X-Craft Submarines.
But that is one interesting ship, the Drache was it? Man can you imagine a match up with Graf Zeppelin or Aquilla? An alternate history commando movie - Get the Ark Royal (or Illustrious or something) where the Brandenburger Commandos launch an airborne landing on the Ark Royal while the Me109s and Stukas cover and suppress the AAA of the carrier. Major propaganda coup for Nazi Germany... except there happens to be an ex-Royal Marine Commando who's now a cook in the galley of the ship (played by Steven Seagal LOL)
But seriously that's a neat little ship. It's such a pity we can't move stuff around the model. It could be a Flower maybe or a German escort ship with one funnel deleted.
Another thing I noticed, trawlers of this period look virtually alike - one tall slim funnel to the rear, a boxy bridge structure and one or two guns, one at the very bow the other at the stern. That ship really should be in the game...

By the way Bruno could you please resend those German TB color camo plates? I seem to have misplaced the first one and I'd really want to finish the repaints before I move on to another.
Thanks,

Brandenburger Commandos you say... How about this Brandenburger Kommando guys boarding Drache in November 1943. They are off to Leros
Helicopter maintenance aboard of Drache.
Well, she was a small ship. But she was an operational ship. |

Hi Bruno, Mountbatten, JapLance, Horsa
We have some units that need a texture improvement for Mare Nostrum mod.
If someone are be able to help us,he will be very appreciated.
We also would like to ask permission to the authors of those wonderfull british ships, retextured for the mediterranean theatre, and also the model of the italian unity Muzio Attendolo, to use them in our mod instead of the originals. All contributions, of course, will be acknoledged in the credits of the mod.
Obviously the mod will be completely free.

No problem at all from my side. I enjoyed Alfa Tau a lot and hope to enjoy even more of Mare Nostrum . Take what you may need of my repaints. Soon I'll have the Queen Elizabeth and the Southampton ready.
Regarding help with textures in MN, I'm not sure to be very helpful, since I more or less know how to use existing ship profiles in simple models like those of the original game, but I'm not very talented if I have to actually paint the ships. |

I am not good at retexturing at all. Plus recently my main OS is Linux so I cannot test units as SH/DC require exclusively Windows 98/XP. However, I have some literature about various Navies of the WW2 period, I am very interested in history of naval engagements in the Mediterranean Sea, and I am looking forward to Mare Nostrum as the most realistic and historically correct Naval sim ever. Consequently, I am most willing to contribute by sharing whatever information I might have (camo plates, ships, drawings of guns etc.) |

Horsa has pretty much all my older stuff, though. You may be interested in the Blackburn Skua for earlier battles with Ark Royal or something like that. Sure wouldn't mind helping out in my spare time. What ships? :know: I don't suppose there's a chance of seeing my ship there hehehe (ie. HMS Kelly)

I bet our Italian friends are busy writing a mission how to sneak into Alexandria harbor and blow up both HMS Valiant and HMS Queen Elizabeth.
It's a shame - looks like everybody knows the name of Gunther Prien and not many aware who were Durad De la Penne, Antonio Marceglia, Vincenzo Martellotta.
These incredibly brave guys riding their maiale sneaked into the main RN harbor in the Mediterrenian and blew up two battleships, a tanker, and damaged HMS Jervis.
Man, when you feel like it, give us also HMS Valiant and HMS Warspite. This should be just a matter of a little bit different camo on the same QE class battleship.

Is anyone making any new merchant vessles for Silent Hunter II? (Besides the Fishing Boat and Tugboat) There are very few stock ones.
(I'd also like to know if there is any way possible to add new ships to AOD, even though I doubt anyone would be interested even if it were possible.) |
