Hi, If it helps I can make 3d models and can convert them in j3d.
I've been making a little bit of 3d modeling, mainly with autocad.
I've been working mainly with italian ships and submarines (we have a lot of drawings) but recently I made a few models of russian and american ships/submarines but with poor quality drawings so the results are not very impressive.

Seriously I have seen some of your work and though the 3D CAD stuff is impressive it is easier and better to make models in 3DS MAX...they look a lot better.

As a matter of fact, I started using 3DMax, following your suggestion, but when I need a 3D model very quick I still use Autocad cause I'm much faster with it.
Anyhow, in case it's needed I'm here Wink

That's cool .

As many people who can convert to J3D as possible is good.

To avoid duplication and also if someone has a model they really want to make i was thinking of people who are making models to post what they are working on/would like to work on.

I'll sort that out tonight.

TLAM you have a J3D to 3DS convertor?
Yea that viewer you sent me can covert J3D to 3ds. But I need to run it though Lithunwrap to get it to appear correctly as a 3ds, and I think after that I need to mirror and reverse normals somehow...

You need to run it through Lithunwrap for it to display corerctly?

Hmm new on w to me.

You do realise that the program mirrors stuff so that everything is back to front.

I can simply mirror it again and invert normals with Gmax and 3D Exploration.

With out using Lith I get a format error in GMAX when I import.

But J3D to 3ds is possible, recognize this boat Xabba?

Or this one...

Well Ramius, you don't need to use a .bat (Batch file) all you gotta do is use the commandline. Anyway ... the file works but you were in the wrong place in the commandline.

Type :
cd \ (brings you to root)
cd Program Files (or whatever thats called in French)
cd (insert the right path to the game directory/graphics folder)
decompress 3d

Different way :
Create a file with notepad, put in the following line

decompress 3d

and save as unzip3d.bat (or whatever you wanna call it, just make sure the extension is .bat). Put that file where the decompress.exe is and excecute.

Cheers
OS

Very great thanks. It works.

I have a question, in what format should be 3D model to be useable for DW ? My friend makes some 3D models lately, he made a Concorde and B-767 (painted already), he made them in Anim8tor program but should be able to export to another format.

I think he could also paint some other models if I asked him. So do we need B-767 (in polish airlines colours currently) or a Concorde (nice Mach 2 target Wink for DW ? Smile

Ok, does anyone want to get down to the dirty task of changing the interface graphics on the Fire Control and elsewhere so that the new weapons added in the mod show properly everywhere and the fire control screens delete the redunant commands?

I'm going to say upfront that anything to do with graphics is currently out of my skillset, so you'll have to know how to do everything and give it to me in a package with a readme using short words in english. Embarassed

No hard feelings if no one desides to do it... it'd be a nice thing to have, but I'm sure it's not the easiest work. Smile

What do you mean by "redunant commands"?

Also LW I think that changing the interface graphics is a littile too close to crossing the 'no new interfaces' line with SCS.

What about Negr's russian interface panels? or Kegerty's MH60 16 GRAM Mod?

I seriously doubt they would mind if we changed a few words and numbers on the control panels... the names are already automatically changed in game for sensors and weapons already fired.

"Redundant Commands" such as the A/P and Pattern selectors for the 65-76 on the Akula FC panel.

Those didn't alter the DLLs. I think we might need to for this to work.

Collectively, we should all look into this. This is something to come back to then in the future unless someone comes around that knows what they're doing with this. :know:
