Self explanatory.
Just been brought to my attention the discrepency in size between ships in DW.
Looks like there is a lot to be done.
If anyone is interested in a rolling program of 3D ship building and division of labour then post here. Like has been done for the database then same for the models. I can't be the only builder here can I? |

I think I couldn't help here, just making you lost your time :dead:
Is the resize process a difficult one ?
not only to change a scale ? (see my knowledge ...) |

I am interested by painting existing models but I don't know how to open the damned 3d.grp
For me only paint number of the boat or nationality mark will be good. |

The Decompress.exe works ... I use it myself.
Just copy the file to the Graphics folder where 3D.grp is located and open up a CMD window (RUN -> cmd) then type decompress 3D(.grp - im not so sure on adding the extension tho). |

I found two Exporter for 3DSMax 6 & 7 to J3D on the net. I'm not sure if thats the right ones and if they actually work. So could please someone of the Modellers check them out. They are attached to the Mod Tools Post on the CADC. Thanks
I've posted 3ds to J3D exporter for 3DSMax 4 & 5 as well.
Cheers

The decompress file must be run from a .bat file (makes it easier).
The .bat file must be of the following format....
decompress 3d
If you want to extract any of the other .grp files then either replace the 3d part or add another line to the .bat file.
@Oneshot - I very much doubt the v4 and upwards J3D exporters will work as SCS only ever released a version for v3. But you never know, they might work.

If I had the .j3d (or .3ds) and texture maps of a ship I could rescale (unformly make bigger or smaller) the model and export it to .3ds in a few minutes baring any problems with the texture maps and the new model. Then someone just needs to convert it back to .j3d for me and boom a correct scale model. |

3DS to J3D convertor for 3DS MAX 4?
The one we have from Jamie is only for MAX ver 3.0
Oneshot where did you get it from?
If you have one for version 4 that works then I'd be well interested. |

Geez ... nobody really knows DOS anymore huh?
Well Ramius, you don't need to use a .bat (Batch file) all you gotta do is use the commandline. Anyway ... the file works but you were in the wrong place in the commandline.
Type :
cd \ (brings you to root)
cd Program Files (or whatever thats called in French)
cd (insert the right path to the game directory/graphics folder)
decompress 3d
Different way :
Create a file with notepad, put in the following line
decompress 3d
and save as unzip3d.bat (or whatever you wanna call it, just make sure the extension is .bat). Put that file where the decompress.exe is and excecute.
Cheers

Ok so what ships do we really need to remodel? I compiled a short list of the really bad ones...
Fuqing AO
Charles DeGaulle (Resize)
Ouragon LSD
Type 143A (Resize)
Yugo SSM (I could make a model of a Sang-O and use that)
Gearing
One "would be nice" one is:
AI FFG7/PFG-2
>Maybe use the player verson? Or totaly redo all OHPs, they are missing some details like the sonar dome... |
