I want to get a general feel of what peoples priorities are with regard to SHIV/Expansion pack. I realize that more than one of these poll options could be added/corrected via SH4....but I would like your first priority.

Looks like most of us want an improved version of SHIII. Not a new game with a new theatre...

i still missing a good gun only sh1 has agood one ,the others are not good to turn and the distance is a crime.

Also why can we not use the emotors in a surface action.

The u boot have 2 engines in the sh1 we have a possidillety to use one for the uploading of the batterys and one for the ship moving.
it shoot be nice to use 2 telegrafs to quik turn one forward and one bakwords to the 2 screw boots.

Tat are me things i wood like to se in the sh4.

Forget destroyer command 2, how about Battleship command using the same realism or better that we have in sh3. Maybe a ww1 German High Seas Fleet taking on the British Home Fleet Yep Who here wouldnt like to take command of a old Dreadnought with some destroyer escorts???

A XBox360 version because I ordered one incl. with a real QWERTZ keyboard which is a little too unfortunate only to use with emails and chat rooms Razz

All in all, at the moment I have a very low interest in a WWII pacific subsim from Ubisoft Yep

TODD293 - check out a game called Strategic Naval Gunnery

http://members.tripod.com/hsr_historicalgames/

The graphics are STRICTLY basic - no sound - but the emphasis has always been GAMEPLAY! This was and is a labor of love by the author and a select few....

Come to think of it - I may post about this game elsewhere......

Personally I would prefer a destroyer command 2, or add on to Sh3 to allow players to play the escorts. With the graphics of Sh3, playing an escort vessel firing K-guns into the water and watching them explode over a sub would be incredible, not to mention the sight of protecting a 40-50 ship convoy with the setting sun, and moderate clouds..... would be awesome.

There hasn't been a Pacific Theater WW2 sub sim since the original Silent Hunter. The role the US subs played in the Pacific was at least as significant as the German U-boats in the Atlantic. I would like to see a new stand-alone sim developed for the Pacific that also upgrades and patches SH3. This way, you could pick which theater you want to operate in and go from there. SH3 would likely be a whole new sim as a result. I think this would satisfy the greater majority of enthusiasts out there.

I don't know how much weight this poll will have on the developers (hopefully very little). But I just want to point out they announced they are beginning development on a new Silent Hunter release titled "SH4 - Pacific Campaign." So doesn't it seem out of place to be including items that are not specific to SH4? At this point, the poll is telling UBISoft not to bother developing SH4 at all. Is that what we really want to see happen? If this keeps up, we will be playing SH3 "as is" and that will be the end of it.

It seems to me we should be asking for SH4 to be backwards compatible with SH3 and update SH3 with the new features (and fixes) that will surely be included in SH4.

Look, this poll is nothing more than an attempt to see what people really want to see....nothing more nothing less....

I created this poll specifically in my mind to make sure that the next release would be a COMPLETE sim...this is what I personally want ..and not a mostly complete sim....and so far...the poll reflects that most people want a completed sim first rather than another uncompleted sim. I'm the first to admit that you cant make everyone happy...but it goes a long way to actually give people what they want.

I love SH3, but that does not mean Im all smiles about it......there are very obvious things left out (which though I would not say were promised, were said to be part of the game or....OR be in an expansion pack)......

would you say I'm a little angry and bitter?....sure....I believe I should be as a Subsim fan and more importantly a costumer.

Then there is the other side of me who thinks that the more sims for the genre the better be it Pacific theater, DC2.....the best thing I can think of is another company taking notice and making some sort of competition....right now UBI the only one putting forth the effort ....so they make the rules.

I wish UBI could do a addon disk of DC-2 to incorporate it into SH3,but we also need more ship types for the SH3 platform . Lots of the Battleships, Battlecruisers, Heavy Cruiser and Light Cruiser not to mention the rest of the dd's that took part in the Atlantic Battle are missing for the British, German, American, French , and Italian Navies. I as a mission designer for the for the subsim community in WPL needs this to incorporate this into the missions we make for multiplayer online for subclub. Use Jane's Fighting Ships 1940-45 for reference for the ships if you need too
