Hi all,

I'm trying to make it all the way through Roscoe's, U.S. Submarine Operations in WWII, it's been an on-and off endeavor since SH-1 was release. Confused

Anyways, p. 54 notes that frequently US subs would make a single sonar ping to check range near firing time. Has anyone read about this elsewhere?

It's not something I ever recall seeing modelled in a WWII sim and would certainly be a welcomed tool with manual TDC'ing.

Thanks!

I think in 'Clear the Bridge!' by O'Kane he mentions doing a active ping on a ship in shallow waters when the situation got confusing... or was it in 'Thunder Below' by Fluckey... :hmm:
