Just a small request, but would it be possible to have a button for "Show New Messages"? I have seen it on many other sites and it would only show new messages since the time of my last visit. |

Thanks very much. I've added the code to my Favorites list. Works like a charm.
When the button is added, could a second one be added beside it that has "Mark All Posts Read" just like the one found on the front page of the forum? |

Glad it works. Unbelievable how fast Neal incorporated that feature

Huh, that one is already there, just as you said yourself ?!?!? | Just suggesting that a copy of the button be placed beside the "Show Posts since Last visit". This would save one extra click to go back to the main page when done reading the latest messages in order to re-set all the messages.
For example, there is a button "Mark All Topics Read" whenever a member enters a sub-forum. However, it might be nice to have that same option available when the member uses the "Show All Posts since Last visit" screen. It is currently unavailable, there. |

Ah, I get it. Don't expect a feature like that. Sorry.
Modding the forum too much makes "auto-updating" impossible. And we all know how much Neal loves updating
But hey, I might be wrong completely. |

The problem with modding the forum is.... about 6 minutes after I complete the mod, phpBB will release a critical upgrade.
About 2 seconds after this, Drebbel will IM me, PM me, e-mail me, and probably throw a bottle with a note into the North Sea, letting me know the Subsim forum needs to be upgraded.
Of course, he will remind me that he has already upgraded the dutchsubmarines.com forum (when in fact, I happen to know he has a German computer scientist on call to do this).
So, I will download the upgrade and read the instructions very carefully, so nothing goes wrong and the forum does not go offline/wonky/loses posts, etc.
At last, I will put my personal life (that's a fiction anyway) on hold, post a sentry by the Subsim office door, and begin the grinding work of uploading the upgrade files, running the database scripts, praying and cursing in equal measures that nothing goes wrong, fully aware that with Murphy's Law and Stevens' Luck, I'm tempting fate on a biblical scale...
...and then when the upgrade is completed, I'll find that all the special tweaks, formatting, and --yes, mods!--are gone, overwritten by the upgrade....and it ends with me locked in a rubber jacket, howling at the little teeny window...
well, that's how it is, mate. |

They've got a special room reserved for you at the Rubber Ramada....
Sorry that I asked. Thanks for the patient explanation. |

It´s a software that automatically collects email addresses from forums and websites and then sends spam or viruses to those addresses. |

Bot advertisers are also very nice. They spam forums and blogs with ads, mostly porn stuff (links to dubious sites) or "Get Viagra for 50% less"... |
