Hi,
Situation.
I’m at sea and my chart shows a target some miles away.
I navigate in the direction of the target.
When I am within a range of 2 miles I dive to 30 meters, stop engines and check the hydrophone. No sound?
I surface back to periscope depth and check the outside for the contact. Nothing?
I move the sub so that is showing directly under the target on the chart.
I do all of the checks mentioned above. Still Nothing?
I surface and check with the binoculars. Nothing to be seen?
Some times the target slowly fades away when I get closer.
This is not the case with all targets.
Please help. |

The marker o the map reports where the target WAS when it is reported.
Adjust for estimated target course and speed when setting up for an intercept. |
