|

There is a friend that I want to play and he and I get on UBI.COM but when either of us create a server game it won't let us ping and join yet we have both joined other games/servers on the UBI.COM and played together on someone elses game/server....
What are we doing wrong?
I even went into my XP firewall and hardware router and opened up the 17999, 18000 and 18001 ports. That didn't help. I went back and turned them off and still could join/play on another server/game. |

Have you told it where you want the ports to go.
Port forwrding siimply forwards the set ports to your ip adddress. My modem has a set ip different to my pc, so i tell it to forward the port range 17999 - 180001 to my ip address. you can apperently tell it to forward those ports to an ip range as well if the machines are all behind the same NAT firewall. |

I have the patch and I do have a router as well as XP SP2
the question is, what is port forewarding and how does one do that?
also, I can connect to other games on the ubi site I just cant create a game that others can ping nor can I connect to my friends game that he creates as I cannot ping that (but can ping other games and join them). |

Its like this. My modem has a fixed ip address. My pc has another ip address ssigned by my modem. Whn a player connects to me or a ping is sent the modem needs to know where to send those connections and pings. To do this you go into the modem port config and tell it to forward those ports 17999,18000,18001 to the ip address that has being assigned to your machine. I aslo believ that you can forwrd those ports to a range of ip addresses if your macine ip changes. Does that help. |

no luck....
is there a secret to creating a game on the server?
do you have to be a paid member in order to start a game that others can join?
can someone work with me on getting a game going? |
