I've been wondering exactly what the rectangles are on the upper front of the sail on a Kilo submarine. They look a lot like windows Rotfl but my guess is that they are actually an HF sonar array like we have in US subs. Anyone out there that can confirm/deny what they are?

Surely Alfa,s Akulas, and Sierra's are Nukes and thus would be below the storms?

yes but the windows are for the bad weather bridge where the sierra alfa akula victors are bassed the weather is a lot worse and thus i think they need a bad wether bridge that part of the sub is used for transiting only ie in and out of port stops the crew getting wet etc
