Haven't seen anything but nice graphics. How's the off-line campaign engine working? |

That is the main concern about this game. Preliminary info was available relatively long time ago about some sort of mixture between scripted and random elements which lead to suspicion that campaign is not fully dynamic. |

Just start a major whining project. Do a good job and you will get a dynamic campaign
The system works, has already been proven. Just ask the Romanian dudes |

It would be great as well to have a 50/50 Campaign. |

Hey Dreb, you guys are getting too sensitive,... just a question, no whine intended. At least by me, maybe I'm too naive. |

Sure they read this forum .
I don't know why, but all of us think that this game will be very good. We have a big hope on it.
In any case I dream on a battleships simulator. Kriegsmarine mod is good, and all the work around DC too, but I need a battleships simulator :know: . |

Not sure how I missed this previously....
E3 was held in Los Angeles May 18-20 and Akella were there with this game. I had the chance to put the first mission through it's paces and speak with some of the development team.
DISCLAIMER: The following is my OWN opinion. I didn't take notes about this for some reason.
OK - gameplay. The boats themselves are controlled by the WASD keys. The first missiion was a PT boat up against a anchored ship(don't recall what sort) which must be sunk, before a single air recon plane arrives. Mission is set inside an island harbour.
The greatest dislike that I had was the water graphics. It looked very flat, like a piece of glass, but the spectator cam did allow me to see a small wake trail. I circled the target and drove the boat into a pier which I watched from spectator cam "pass through" without sustaining damage to the pier or the boat.
The guy I spoke to (I think programmer) was talking about 8-12 missions for the game. His English was broken so I couldn't work out if there were multiple campaigns though. He spoke of each mission being required to be completed prior to advancing, made no mention of Easter Eggs or unlocking other things.
There were a number of different views, first person manning a single gun on the vessel, third person skippering of the vessel and first person on board control of the boat and torpedoes.
I was "slightly" dissappointed with what I saw, however, the guy I spoke to did say that the mission I was playing was put together hastily for E3, and that what I was playing was essentially a devlopment step. I was however impressed with the flyers at the booth, which unlike most other products, the screen shots actually resembled what I was playing. One of the screen shots showed an impressive air attack...but that was not on the mission I played.
Overall rating: (again my opinion) about 6 out of 10. |

I hope this sells enough so Akella can fund a decent "Sea Dogs 3". |
