Just an informal poll:

Do you really believe the story how U-99 found their lucky horseshoes? (Finding them fouled on their anchor line at port) I guess it's possible, but what are the chances:

a) Of horseshoes ending up at the bottom of the pier;

b) Not one, but two shoes ending up on an anchor line.

c) Besides, did U-Boats really use those anchors in port?

This is, BTW, not to disparage the brave crew of the 99.
(or their luck)

Well, the story was told by Otto himself. He told that, after the second horseshoe, asked the crewmember about the horse.

Besides that, U 99 was sunk by HMS Walker. The Destroyer had an horseshoe in the bridge too!

But that one was pointing upwards.

That´s the way to put an horseshoe to give luck to his master.

The way i heered it, the ends have to point up in order to keep all the luck from spilling out...
