Blackscreen on startup/fresh install

I seem to recall having this error when I first installed the game when it was released, but I dont remember how I fixed it. I have the latest video card and sound card drivers available as well. Sad

I can hear the loading movie, and the in-game menu music, but I have no image.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

it would help if you losted your systems hardware and driver versions dont just say latest. also which game version you have etc
