I went to download RealUboat1.21 and get the "page cannot be found" message.
Is the link down? |

Yes, we are keeping some of the big files offline until we are sure the server is reliable. Stuff under 10MBs still available. |

Ok, most of the SH3 big files are relinked. The server slows quite noticably when more than 30 people are downloading at one time but we will watch it.
The SH3 Aces sound pack has been moved to the Bonus Mods section. At 50 MB, we can't keep it open for wide distribution. |

Well, that didn't last long :dead:
As soon as the admin connected the links back to the 10MB+ mods, the number of downloads shot up and began to bog the server. SH3 downloads are offline for now.
We will resume downloads as soon as we get the new server ready, a few days. Subsim has reached 1000 GBs of downloads in the last 3 weeks... I never thought I would see that |

you mean the connection is full but the server hasnt a high load. if so install a torrent tracker, so people which downloaded a file are also uploading. offer the big files via torrent with traffic shaping and you should be fine. :know: |

what produces the load, the webserver or the database, the forum or the main site or something completely different. what about the memory usage. what does the log say about what the 200+ connections want. for example iirc the new server has 2gb, if the connections wanted the big files and its more than 2gb it loads the files into the memory to chache it and swaps it than back to disk and that really kills speed.
if compression for http is enabled it could be that its busy with that. would normaly make sense to compress it before caching.
i dont know which bandwidth you have and also which network card but maybe the prozessor has also much todo because of a dumb card or bad drivers or configuration about packet size and so. |
