For those of you who are interested in writing historical mission scenarios , this site is a great one on convoys:

There is a lot of information on this site.

Hey, thanx for the link! I am planning to make a series of missions based on a real life U-boat record. I hope to even find out the names of the officers on board if possible.
My only trouble is with the lack of radio scripting. The SH3 format only allows pre-cast BdU messages at the beginning of every game, and unlike SH2 does not allow you to script in radio messages during the game. In the real war U-boats got alot of their information from other U-boats that contacted them radio or when they overheard each other's radio messages to BdU.
Of course the lack of other U-boats does not help either. Even SH2 had other U-boats (and Allied subs) - though they did not work all that well, at least they were there.
So making this series is proving a bit daunting. |

You can trigger messages to be sent as Events.
The two best methods would be a 'Time' trigger (message sent at a specific time), or a 'Reach Zone' trigger (message sent when your sub enters a specific Zone).

Avair, can you also use the events/trigger to get contact reports from
friendly aircraft searching in the region for enemy ships?

Unfortunately, the Zone trigger only reacts to the player's sub. We could have put a lot more cool stuff in our missions otherwise.
I wanted to trigger a message when an enemy ship entered a certain zone, which could possibly simulate your example, but it wouldn't work..
