Still Alive or Been Destroyed?

Rumours are flying about, a destroyer was seen with "4.1b" painted on the side, no one has managed to decode it's meaning yet

 Ahoy, thanks for asking, U-49 is still in dry dock from the last patrol. Hitting the net or wall at the end of the last patrol damaged the dive planes as well as hull damage. U-49 is also undergoing a motor over haul, and the engineers are busy replacing the cells. Wiring must be over hauled, all the welds must be inspected. All the bearing in the drive train must be replaced. All bunk boards must be replaced. We need a new stove and all the old storage bins need to be scrubbed and repainted. I need the engineers to put a better lamp at the cuddy, we need a few electric fans.

 They issued us new uniforms, that are British Khaki, seems the brits let them at Dunkirk by the ton.

 The high command granted me and the crew extend shore leave, 3 weeks for doing such an outstanding job while we were in der kanal. Two weeks have passed and we still are on leave. I do not have to report until next first Friday in July.

 The first week in port I was not yet on leave, I had the standard after action reports and debriefings and meetings about the latest developments in the war to occupy my time.

 The second week I went to visit Arend’s wife and family, and to pay my respects at his grave. It was in a beautiful graveyard, very peaceful. His family and I went together and had a picnic lunch there. It was very sad and at the same time I felt his presence was there too, so I was somewhat comforted.
 His widow said she and the family will be all right, she comes from a wealthy family and has given her the entire financial ad she needed. She said that she had bad premonitions during the week he died. And on the day he died, she said that a small black bird flew into the house and landed on his chair at the dinner table. It sang a few notes and flew back out the open window it had flown through. She told me she knew then that Arend was dead.

 Well, that was a sad week so Jurgen, and a few of the maats and myself are heading to France! We kicked the French armies arse and the brits have been pulled back to England. The western continent is Germanys! A few days after reaching port Paris fell! So we are off to do some R and R on those sexy French women!
 Hail and victory! <Wrratt

 Now in real life, where I live it is too hot to leave two computers running day and night. The box I am posting with is in the air-conditioned section of my home, but the Flacon box is in the sunny side of the house. That area the inside temperature was 90 degrees Fahrenheit, to hot for my over-clocked gaming box. So I have been playing UT2004 and Quake2 online, also I have been reading. I basically figured if I did not time compress the mission, then I should take a few weeks leave. Although this weekend is two days in a row off from work for me, Sunday and Monday the fourth of July is a holiday, so I figured in between the FPS games and reading I would try one or two of the single missions. I have never tried them, I went strait from the academy to the career patrols.

 Although I must admit the past few days I have been reading all about the newest patch and I am staying with the 1.2 and the world mod. I do not have any issues that seemed to be addressed in the new patch. The game is still very fresh and fun to me, I like the escort ships into and out of the harbor in the world mod. I know I faulted the escort in the last patrol, but I did not stay directly behind it. U-49 was off to its port side when we struck the net/wall. And I like all the air traffic in the world mod, plus we saw a few German ships too.

 Last summer we had two days of 90 or more, you did not even need air conditioning,
 This summer it has been reel hot and humid. So before I do any more extended sailing and posting of the KTB log, I might have to rearrange things in my house next week if the heat wave is still in force, or just wait till it is a bit cooler.

 As far as posting I have been lurking the SH3 board daily and been posting at the General sections, off topic things like books and joking around. Here is what happened to U-49 in the joke war
http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=38677&start=50
 Have a gute hunt! <Wrratt

Hello Wratt.

Will you continue with this thread some day? Or are your No-TC-days over? Or will you continue only in autumn when it turns cooler again, as mentioned in the post above?

Always enjoyed reading your journal a lot!

Cheers

 Ahoy, Thanks for asking. I am part way into U-49’s 9th patrol, I have been using some TC to close the gap from the base to my patrol grid AN53or AM53 I have to check that when I resume later. I am still in the middle of the Nord Sea and I hope to get past the Scappa flow area tonight.

 The only eventful part so far was leaving port, soon as the game started I went on deck and the escort Armed Trawler was firing its deck gun. I did not see any enemy ships or bees so I guess it was our salute.

 Also there were two sunken ships that were burning a little further out into the harbor. We also sailed past two Hipper class ships, as well as an S-boot.

 This patrol I enabled the free cam but I forgot to enable the event cam. But what I did not know was there was a “ships cam” , that gives you the view from the nearest ship. I followed the S-boot and I wish they coded the warships for online play. I think this game would have been gute online if it were U-boots fighting human sailed warships.

 I guess that if we survive this patrol then I would do the next with out using TC, and I would then have the time to type up a Ktb log. Maybe when this patrol is done I will type up an after action report.
 Have a gute hunt and keep yer boat a float! <Wrratt

? Ahoy, thank you very much for posting the image, I would have missed seeing it. That’s cool too that they mentioned subsim, I would have played the game with no TC but having some place to chat and to place my Bdu reports was entirely due to Neal taking time to host this site. So I thank you sincerely.
?
? Too bad about the name being missed spelled, I would have liked the Quake 2 players to have seem my name, oh well.
?
? U-49 has been in dry dock, this summer its been way to hot, but come the cooler weather in a few weeks, and U-49 will resume patrols. I am anxious to hear the diesels, and to hunt down some tonnage.
?
? Have a gute day and a better night. <Wrratt

Im also doing a 1x campaign as well on my second computer, on my first i playing normal with rub and commander, but on the 1x it just straight SH3 with the 1.4 patch and no mods. Theres nothing crazy about playing this way its what we call True Realism. Not even the RUB mod players that play the game normal can beat that. Laughing
