I just recently finished watching "Winds of War" by Herman Wouk. A pretty good mini series based on the beginnings of WW2. While very short lived the naval scenes I thought were very good. Especially when Commander "Pug" Henry, who was commanding a fleet of destroyers escorting a convoy to England, almost went to the mat with a flotilla of U-boats. It went on for about 24 hours in the movie.
Anyway I read where there are a lot more naval combat scenes in War and Remembrance with both father and son being on ships. His son, Byron Henry is on a fleet class submarine.
Now seeing as how this little mini-series runs around &140.00 for all twelve episodes I would like to get some input first before shelling out that kind of money.
While I agree it may be a good mini-series are there enough naval warfare scenes in this to satisfy a subsimmers unending thirst for combat?
BTW...has anyone ever purchased or even veiwed these imported sets to know if they are any good. My father always told me you get what you pay for but I just can't see shelling out $140.00 for a set. Now if I could get it for $30.00 then it wouldn't bother me so much. Anyway here is the link to the sets I am talking about.
