I've tried every combination of search terms to find the thread with the fix for the white blob / black sky bug and can't find it.

Just the domain named changed guys.

If you have something like this:
http://207.44.164.159/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=29518
change it to this in your address bar:
http://subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=29518

Notice the "viewtopic.php?t=29518" part is the same for both.

Anyone know a cure for the missing sun glare/artifacts in the sun on GF 6800s with the 71.84 drivers?

ISSUE: Editing certain TC inputs may causes sound issues, including:

1. Loss of Crew Voices
2. Degrading of Deckgun sfx
3. Loss of Explosions
4. Loss of Torpedo Launch sfx

WORKAROUND: EnemySighted, EnemyAirSighted, and Max TC may be edited safely.

I get wonderfull fps in the game but as soon as a ship catches fire etc. "effect", my fps drops way down. It actually goes down so much that you cant realy play unless I turn the periscope away from the fire.

Im using a 9800pro

Hi guys, I'm sorry if this has been posted before.

When I load up the game and try and start a new mission/savegame/career, whatever, the HUD appears but the screen is black with the words "Game Paused". However, the TC is locked on 0 (the number is orange) so I can't speed up the game. SHIII worked well for the 5 or so days I had been playing it before. If there's no workaround for this could you tell me how to back up my character and profile (I don't particularly want to re-do Naval Academy again) so I can re-install? Thanks.

Aaaagh!

I re-installed (keeping my savegames) and started a new career. Still no luck. Tried it with a new profile, still no luck. Bah!

Here's a screenshot. This is the 1st patrol of a new career on a new profile, in St Nazaire.

Edit: Oops. I'll re-post this in the bugs thread.

Yes, after I use a high TC. If I never TC way up, then the sounds don't appear.

It sounds like an old grammaphone without any music.

I use the ever popular SB Live, value soundcard.

ACk! Me too... maybe that's the problem?? I've been meaning to change it, is there a work around out there in the meantime? No TC is impossible to live with (I have a life at times).

I wish my problem was like the ones listed here. I cant even get into the game.

I get the Ubisoft intro, then I get an error message.

I’ve been through a number of suggestions (update graphic drivers, install latest patch), yet the problem persists. Any help or ideas?

My Specs:
Graphics Card: NVIDA GeForce FX5200
512MB RAM
Processor: Pentium 4 2.66Ghz
Hard Drive space: 111gb (about 70GB left)
OS: Windows XP Home edition [Service pack 2]
DirectX version: 9.0c
Spyware/Virus scans: Indicate clean

Hello
My colleague has irritating problem - namely: while he loads the game (ver 1.2) the loading progress bar gets to about half way and the game crashes to the desktop. When he manage to load it successfully and he starts playing (i.ex. a Patrol), then if he tries to save the game (presses ESC) it crashes to desktop also.
He has tried changing the size of swap file, but it hasn't changed much. He hasn't had such problems with ver. 1.0.
Any help and/or advices are welcome.

Thank you!
Cheers

Well since changing from a nvidia mx card to an ATI 9600SE I can now enjoy this great game. The one problem I seem to be having is some form of corruption throughout the game that I am hoping someone can relate to and help sort it out. certain screens seem to become "blotchy" with large square thingys that hide the detail. For instance the damage/crew screen becomes this way when clicking on different compartments. The periscope screen becomes completely covered and unuseable some times and others its fine. I have never been able to use the UZO station because of this and ussually after a patrol my home port screen does this as well. On the bridge the sky can become very pixalated as well as my watch crews faces and raingear. Anyone else have any of these problems? Hope this is enough explainations. I am still enjoying the game dispite but it would begreat if it was perfect

Thanks in advance-noleaks

I removed SH3 from the cd drive, put it in a cd case to play half life 2 instead (having two great games to play at once is hell eh? Thumbs Up ). Decided to play SH3 the next day so stuck in the disk and no auto-run...hmmm so I started it from the desktop icon and lo and behold I'm told to insert the disk in the drive, attempted to use the start menu - same. Rebooted computer and tried again to no avail. Had a look at the D: drive and the disk was listed as "New", like a blank cd does. So I tried that good old cure-all the reinstall. Now the disk doesn't even come up as "New" - the computer thinks the drive is empty, it seems.

Now I've checked the surface of my disk, it's got a number of fine scratches like most of my disks (which work) but no big scores or scuffs, I've tried cleaning it too so i don't think it's the disk surface and if it was I'd expect it to load a little and freeze or something, not just appear empty. If anyone can shed a little light on this I'd be grateful though I have to say with something like this I'm not too hopeful!
