I thought Jamie mentioned that in the editor we would be able to set how much battery charge the Kilo had at the beginning of a mission so you culd force the player to use the snorkel

Any info?

There is a "Set Battery" in the script options so you can set battery at any time during a mission.

here's a thread where TLAM_Strike and I are discussing setting random battery levels, it's a bit more step by step than my earlier post on this thread.

I've used it, you can also set the battery level for AI diesel boats. When their charge goes below some level (don't know yet what it is), they come to periscope depth.

Right , and they start there engines, according the huge nois they make on sonar, after they come to surface.

I've also discovered through scripting and regular waypoint settings that you can make the AI subs run on the surface of the ocean until some pre-designated point in the game, then have them dive.
