Hi

One thing that stops me playing SC is the sound effects and Speech disappear after a couple of plays and i have to do a full reinstall.

Any idea why?

That's a problem I've never encountered, mate. Does this happen every time you re-install? And are you applying any of the patches or mods to the game, or is it the base Sub Command that you're running.

Also, what operating system do you have?

Try a fresh install, and patch to 1.05, and see if it is working. If is is working at 1.05, follow these instructions :

1. In the interface folder, there are 3 files. 688I, ssn21, and AkulaII. In each of these folders is a file called SonarBB.dll. Back up these files somewhere.
2. Patch to 1.08.
3. Past the old SonarBB.dll files into their respective folders.

Not sure if this will work, as I've never encountered exactly the same problem, but this has helped several folks (including me) with other sound-related issues.

Hope it helps.

Cheers

Sometimes I'll lose engine sounds for some reason, go to the full page map display (with no insert picture of the 3d world) - then go to full 3d page and the engine sounds come back...

I think it's just a weird thing Confused
