UBI has stated that at this time it will only be released on DVD. In the future they are not sure yet. |

Would anyone be so kind as to explain to this ol' finite-minded, brig-monkey, what are the benefits or differences of having a program on DVD-ROM rather that CD-ROM?
Certainly isn't a problem for me, I am just curious as many games lately tend to use DVD-ROMs.
Perhaps more information can be contained on a DVD than on a CD?
bleh. |

Viper,
You can fit much more data on a DVD (I think about 6 CDs worth?)
so that means less disk swapping.

Ah, I see! Certainly a big benefit there, less cost in CD production for the companies, etc.
Thanks BobTuck! Fast response too... =] |

I REALLY HOPE THEY'VE GOT IT WRONG! I will go down to the Game Store tomorrow and ask if they know something...

Its not hard to put a new drive in. It just slides in and you plug it in, like putting bread in a toaster
Cds hold 600-700 megs.
DVD hold 4 gig or 8 if they are dual layer. So not much disk swapping and faffing about! I prefer it. It also means if we are really really really lucky there might be some juicy dvd extras. Like war footage or the oesten interview in full!
Dont get your hopes up though im just guessing at that |

Or some outtakes from the game like the "orange dance" scene from "Das Boot" animated with the ingame 3D characters |
