We're reading this forum as it concerns the ONLY site where fans of Cold War history can play a variety of platforms from the 1960s/70s through SCX/SCU.

If DW does not reflect the Cold War, then all it represents is a form of warfare which is rapidly becoming unlikely/extinct - when is a modern sub likely to be attacked, and by whom?

Give me the Novembers and Permits any day - I for one shall be staying with SC for a long time yet!

I think I am going to wait a little bit before I order DW. I'll wait for the pre-order rush and see what "bugs" turn up.

Like John said it's going to be interesting how fast the first "bug" will be posted.

I have £100 pounds on within 2 hours of it getting into someone's hands.

I pre-ordered mine because I didn't want to wait in case they ended up doing away with the 750 page spiral bound manual and only put it on the CD. Great red light reading material!!!!

I think you should look that up again. Just think - how do you stick 750 pages on a spiral binding?

I'll be waiting for awhile, too. Not that DW doesn't sound and look interesting, but I still enjoy SC/SCXIIC/SCU too much.

I'm another "Cold War" guy, and prefer to do my hunting in a less-capable Sturgeon or Permit class boat, and am just starting to get the hang of Russian sonar, too.

I'll wait a few months for some words from the players of DW, and decide when and if to buy. I'm sure it will be great.

Cheers.

I served in the Navy from 1958-1982, most of it on subs, and the cold war and many of the operations depicted in this sim are vey real to me.
I also love the hard work that went into building SCX, and I am still tying to get my courage up to activate SCU, I worry about screwing up.
I loved 688i, but the team that put SCX together made SC a great sim and I will play it aslong as I can.
Oh I will buy DW, I do hope they will keep the hard manual, but if they don't I will down load it like I did for SC, pain in the A.., but what does an old nuke?
I enjpu this sim and appreciate the work that has been done, I will wait and see what you experts say about DW, I truly respect what you say and when you gentleman say it good for an old man like me to buy, I will get it. I remember when SC was not very good until you fellows fixed.

Thank you and I will keep reading,

For you Cold War fans, I am planning a camapign based around all the old boats. Hopefully by the summer, but no promises, as these things always take longer than you think, and I am half-way through my Falklands campaign.

A cold War campaign sounds Awesome my friend!

One of the main reasons I am still playing SC is the fact that I get to patrol the icy North in my good old Sturegeon class and Thresher class subs.

I'm kinda a novice at creating misisons, but if you need any help or anything, give me a yell. Ping
