Which is your favourite towed array to use, starboard or port and with which submarine?A lot of the missions always seem to favour the starboard one.Any thoughts?

It depends on whether or not the mission requires speed, water depth, etc.

Generally, in basic ASW missions in deep water, I'll use the port array. But if I'm escorting a SAG, transiting a decent distance, or am in water where I might drag the bottom, I use the stbd array.

As quite the paranoid submariner, I almost ALWAYS use the port array. It is my primary sensor. I want to KNOW where that Akula II is as SOON as possible. With modern submarines with such powerful passive arrays and weapon systems... the SSN war can quickly be reduced to something resembling fighter combat with the first boat to get a shot off winning.

While the starbord array is great for finding low freq contacts during SAG escorts, I prefer sprint and drift using the Port array.

I use the starbord array only after I have gotten myself into a stupid situation and have to go to flank speed to evade some stallions. I treat the starbord as a fair "back-up" to my wonderful TB-23.

Yep
