|

First, thank you Neal for your website and this forum. It is packed with a lot of great information.
Savas Beatie recently released two U-boat books we think forum members will find of interest:
Hunt and Kill: U-505 and the U-boat War in the Atlantic is the first definitive study of U-505 and its capture by the USS Guadalcanal Task Force 22.3 on June 4, 1944. U-505 is the world-famous submarine toured by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. She is the only fully restored Type IXC boat in the world. You can see more about this book at http://www.savasbeatie.com/U-505.html
Steel Boat, Iron Hearts: A U-boat Crewman?s Life Aboard U-505 is the extraordinary memoir of a German sailor who made every war patrol aboard U-505. This memoir is utterly unique, for no other enlisted U-boat man has left a book-length account of his service. You can see more about this book at http://www.savasbeatie.com/GoebelerU-505.html
A review of Steel Boat, Iron Hearts was recently added to subsim.com http://www.subsim.com/books/book_steel_boat.htm and a review of Hunt and Kill will be up soon.
If you have any questions about either of these titles, please post them and we will respond.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Hello Sarah, and welcome to Subsim.com.
That's very interesting - both are books I'd like to read, and I'd not heard of Hunt and Kill before.
Dan Gallery's book (We Captured A U-boat) is also a fascinating account of the taking of U-505, from the perspective of the US task force commander, and is extremely well written. Without checking, I'm not sure if it's in print at the moment - my copy is from 1958. Highly recommended. |

I'm reading Hunt and Kill now, and should have my review posted soon. |

Nothing in the hopper for the Cold War, but you never know! We offer original books on many military history subjects, from Roman Legions to the Civil War. You can check out our recent and upcoming releases here http://www.savasbeatie.com/books.html Questions are always welcome! |

Funny you should ask. I chose it because everyone says it looks just like me.

So our romance is doomed - something told me from the beginning that there must be a hook in it somewhere... |

Hey, it's not doomed, Sky. I've been in love with a magazine cover of Milla Jovovich for over a year now  |
