MIDWAY. The Battle That Doomed Japan, The Japanese Navy's Story by Mitsuo Fuchida and Masatake Okumiya (Naval Institute Press)
I bought this book some months ago and it sat on my shelf until the other day, when I picked it up, now I'll have more time to read and I'll read it.
Does anybody read this book?
Is it recommended to read this book?

I've never read it, but it will be interesting to read the story from the Japanese side. I have read Walter Lord's Incredible Victory, which isn't too detailed but is very readable.
Let us know how it is-I might want to get it myself. |

I do have a book on Midway, I think it is this one. Always very interesting to read the stories from the other side.

I've recently read it. To be honest I was a bit disappointed in it.
The Rising Sun: The Decline and Fall of the Japanese Empire, 1936-1945 by John Toland gives a good overview of the whole of the war, rather than just Midway, from the Japanese side. |

I am reading right now the book. When I come across a book that seems interesting I usually take notes. That’s the reason why I spend hours reading this book. I have read the first four chapters. This is an addictive book that you can not put down after you start. I’ve also been eyeing the book but I want to read it in detail. :8 (I feel so freak) :8

The title of book that we are talking about is Midway so if anybody wants to have an overview of the whole war this wouldn’t be the ideal book. Midway was just a battle of the whole war. \

That's what I wrote if you take care to read it.
If your looking for a book that looks at the war from the Japanese side, Toland's book is about the best, but it covers the whole war rather than just Midway.
If you want a good book on Midway then "Midway- The Battle That Doomed Japan" may not be the one to get. Better alternatives are "Miracle at Midway" by Gordon William Prange and "Coral Sea, Midway and Submarine Actions: May 1942-August 1942 (History of United States Naval Operations in World War II, Volume 4)" by Samuel Eliot Morison. |
