War in the Boats by Capt. William J. Ruhe USN (Ret.) is an excellent book. He served in 3 different US boats durring WW2. Very lively and interesting. I've started reading again for the 3rd time.

Also Thunder Below! by Admiral Eugene B. Fluckey is another great read. I read it twice and will probably read it again after I'm finished with War in the Boats.

Best thing about these books are they are not fiction. Real life is truely far more interesting than fiction.

If you see either at your local book store be sure to grab a copy. They won't disapoint. Thumbs Up

SUBMARINE! by Captian Edward L. Beach is a very good read. I'm reading it for a 3rd time while I wait for Thunder Below!, Clear the Bridge! (by ADM. Richard H. O'Kane) and October Fury (Peter A. Huchthausen) to arive at my local Borders Books.

Hostile Waters by Peter A. Huchthausen is also a good read.

TLAM Strike, Clear the Bridge! is excellent. Thumbs Up Also check out The Bravest Man by Willian Tuohy. It's a biography about ADM. Richard H. O'Kane and covers his time onboard the USS Wahoo and the USS Tang and the ordeal he and the other survivors of Tang had to go through as POW's.

I'll have to check out Submarine!.

I'd like to read some non-fiction about the U-Boat offensive of the US East Coast in WW2. I've heard Operation Drumbeat was purty good. Any other recomendations?

Overkill check out Torpedo Junction: U-Boat War Off America's East Coast 1942 by Homer Hickam. I just finished it and it was good.
