Has anyone been having problems like I have running into invisible icebergs around the kola penninsula? Been taking damage, the same amount as from icebergs, when running shallow. Even though there is nothing there.
Also been having shallow running torpedos hitting invisible object.
Seem to be a bug I'm having when the ice coverege is listed around 1% to 2%.
Upon making missions further north. I see the proper icebergs etc. Anyone? |

There are small icebergs generated as part of the ice coverage... the only thing to do is switch the HF sonar on, or go deep... |

there were no icebergs. I know what they look like in 3d and in the HF sonar.
3d and truth was on. |

I've had the same problem ... being sunk by invisible ice. |

I've had the same problem. I'm not sure if it's an SCX issue or a custom mission issue. I've never had it happen with normal SC on the standard missions/campaigns.

About Arctic/Antarctic missions...
"Invisible" ice will destroy ships and surfaced subs.
When making missions near the ices edge using the Editor it is best to use summer months if you intend to use surface units or stay surfaced in your sub.
Drag your cursor over the area you intend for the mission and it will give you a % covered. Change your time of year until your happy, or minimum surface ice. But there will always be some 'residual ice', 2 to 3% near the polar packs. North or south.
This is the invisable ice mentioned I think. Kind of a 'fragmentation' effect over time. Not visable but there.
This is something I really hope DW improves on. |

Molon: It happens with regular SC also. I tried the same mission I made with it.
Pigfish: That is exactly what is happening. Kind of spoils those track boomers as they leave the barn scenarios I've been planning.
And I'll have to try the season trick thanks!
P.S. AS it is now it's funny watching all those ship sink as they can't even leave port in the game |

Hey, Angle.
Changing the season will work, I've given it a go a few times in order to correct similar problems.
Russian ships or subs that receive damage "leaving the barn" may also be grounding. The Kola inlet is very shallow in Sub Command, and you have to lay out a pretty precise route for them to take, especially larger ships with deeper drafts.
Cheers. |
