Is it possible to have the port towed array already deployed instead of the starboard array? The mission editor doesn't appear to give you a choice.

I must say I can't recall this question ever being asked on the SC forum. Confused

If there is a way of doing it then I am not aware of it. The only option in the mission editor is to have the TA deployed or not deployed. Sorry.

Thanks "K" ! Just seemed kind of strange to me that you don't get that option since the TB-29 on the Seawolf is the more sensitive of the two arrays. Maybe the devs just wanted to force captains to make that choice.

In the stock unmodified Sub Command isn't the Starboard towed array the more sensitive one?

The port array definitely operates at a higher speed.

The TB-29 is (according to what I've read) the more sensitive of the two at lower frequencies.

In SCX, The Starboard array is less sensitive, but can be used at higher speed, and vice versa.

The mission editor doesn't allow one to stipulate which array is deployed at mission start. If the TA is deployed at mission start, then the starboard array is deployed. For U.S. boats, this is the TB-16. It in reality is deployed on the port side. For multi-player purposes, Thomasew in his infinite wisdom decided that the TB-16 should remain on the starboard side, as its performance is comparable to the Palemida TA for the Akula. In multi-player the TA's are deployed at mission start, and both sides would be on "even keel" with respect to sonar performance.
