Is this a joke...please someone tell me this is a joke. How can you be afraid of a computer game. It isn't even the real ocean. I mean come on. What are you afraid of, the red thingy's are going to pop out of the screen and choke you or something. If that scares you don't go see that movie the Abyss Smile

You are kidding right? you are just joking with us all right?

I can only assume that you are, because if you aren't then yes you seriously need a shrink.

From someone of the Personnel Command i wouldn't accept such an answer. That guy'd be fired within few days...
Being scared by something is selfprotection: indeed i wouldn't like to hit bottom with a 3 billion submarine :dead:

Aggie, it is a phobia, you shouldnt attack people for having one... Its like criticising a Blind person because they cannot see... Its not fair.

Im sure you have a flaw or something you are absoutly petrified of. For some people, its places with many people, others insects, others being in high places (altitude), and in this case... The sea floor.

:hmm: :hmm:

SC's manual page 1:
Quote:
Epilepsy Warning
Please read before using this game or allowing your children to use it.
Some people are susceptible to epileptic seizures or loss of consciousness when exposed to certain flashing lights or light patterns in everyday life.
Such people may have a seizure while watching television images or playing certain video games. This may happen even if the person has no medical history of epilepsy or has never had any epileptic seizures.
If you or anyone in your family has ever had symptoms related to epilepsy (seizures or loss of consciousness) when exposed to flashing lights, consult your doctor prior to playing.
We advise that parents should monitor the use of video games by their children. If you or your child experience any of the following symptoms: dizziness, blurred vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of consciousness, disorientation, any involuntary movement or convulsion, while playing a video game, discontinue use IMMEDIATELY and consult your doctor.
Precautions to Take During Use
• Do not stand too close to the screen. Sit a good distance away from the screen, as far away as the length of the cable allows.
• Preferably play the game on a small screen.
• Avoid playing if you are tired or have not had much sleep.
• Make sure that the room in which you are playing is well lit.
• Rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes per hour while playing a video game.

Epilepsy... It might be, but they do have those warnings on just about every game, and it think it has more to do with flashing colours and lights.

Heppuli: Have you ever had problems with other games?

Junghian psychoanalisis associates images of deep, dark water with death: this is why images of a submerged building (or of a sunken ship on the bottom of the ocean) are often disquieting - exp. if barely illuminated by the floodlights of a deep-sea vessel.

When I was a child I had nighmares because, one evening, I saw the reflection of a castle in the dark waters of a lake, and for a moment I mistook it for a real castle submerged in the lake's depths. Even after I understood that it was only a reflection, the image still kept me awake at night.

Today I find the bottom of the ocean fascinating Very Happy

I know what you mean. When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone...

For the life of me I cannot put my finger on it it now...Oh well. Joking

Listen to Brain Damage from Pink Floyd in the follwoing way:

Close the curtains
Lay down on the bed
Put your headphones on
Be relaxed, at peace with yourself
Than, press play and close your eyes...

Brain Damage, listening to it will give you just that Smile

I KNOW that feeling.... the first time I played Half Life, I damn near had a heart attack when a zombie jumped out at me.... and even though I LOVE the game, it still freaks me out every time I play it.

I have the same type of fear as was described earlier.... I'm petrified of heights, except in buildings or situations where I can't fall.

I also have a slight phobia of bridges, afraid they'll collapse while I'm on them.

We all have our fears.

Yea, my fear is the sea floor and the zombies, I get a bad heart attack when I see either one of them. Razz

But I think this phobia of sea floor is healing a bit.
I just don't fear the bottom so much, but still a little. Smug

P.S. I fear bridges little too, especially the long ones!
