I have a serious problem.
I have a phobia, it is a phobia, that I think the bottom of the sea is spooky, I just get mad when I see the bottom of the sea in SC for example, I just can't do anything.
When I played SC, I decided: Hey, I think I will make a mission!
There is nothing in that, BUT, I created a perry, I though:
Wow! A perry, I want to look at it, and watch if it got 2 helos!
Then I went to 3d, I saw the perry in the surface, but then I steered the camera to UNDERWATER and saw the bottom of the sea with red/brown dots on it, then I got mad and closed the whole SC. Please help!
How can I buy DW if I have this phobia?!?
How can I get RID of this! I am SO sick of this!
P.S. When I tried that later, I didn't get SO mad, I didn't close the SC
But I don't say I liked it. |

Well first of all.. quit smoking. But if you insist doing so at least forget the dried mushrooms and stick to Marlboro Lights, soft-box.
Second. Turn off the 3d-view and you won't see the sea nor the bottom of it.
It's considered as "cheating" among the hc-subsimmers anyway |

Hmmm...
1. I don't smoke nor take drugs, and I don't use shrooms either.
2. Might be good idea, BUT at least in 668(I) Hunter Killer when you die the thing automatically switches to 3D, and shows when you blow up into pieces and sink. AND in DW there are so good graphics so it would be wasting of quality to turn it off.
3. (?) And hey, I fear only the BOTTOM, not the sea.
P.S. Oh, and it would be more realistic to turn it OFF.
This leaves me to think what must I do to get rid of this phobia, maybe I just gotta watch the bottom to not fear it. |

`Mad' as in angry, or insane?
Seeing the bottom of the sea used to sometimes get to me, too- I think it's `virtual deep-sea vertigo' |

English isn't your primary language (serious question)?
I was saying that it could be a vertigo-like feeling, but I didn't know what you meant by `mad'.

Hmm... The feeling is full of horror, I think.
DAAMN YOOUU PHOBIAA!! :dead: :hulk:
One thing, I don't fear the SAND, I seem to fear the red things on it.
AND I fear the "movie" of my sub exploding to pieces... (I haven't seen it, though, but I have saw it on 668 hunter killer, but I was young.) |

The doctor orders a confrontation therapy. Hold your breath, dive down and stay there for a while. |

It's the immersion feeling- it's (usually) good! When a friend and I were playing Silent Hunter II and his hull started leaking, it eventually pitched up and sank vertically at a great rate of speed- he was laughing, while I couldn't help but feel horrified at the sight
I do think that fear makes the sim more realistic- you think sailors IRL don't know there's 800ft of water above them?

How about sailing thruogh the Norwegian fjords at 30 knots with 4600 tons of steel, knowing that if the helsman makes a mistake, there's 3 km of water below you........ |

No need to more therapy, I turned 3D off, now it is more realistic AND I don't fear anything, WEE! I AM FREE!
I played SC without 3D, I won, and then I played again, and again
Now, I understand why you all love SC so much! SC is a great game, I am going to buy DW because I don't have to fear anymore, just turn 3D off. (Phobia, you won 905335156 battles but I won the war! \ )
Thank you JJ, it really helped. |
