so can you fire torpedos and sink people, or can you roam around as a boomer trying to avoid detection from other military and non-military vessels?
Are there plenty of people at sea at any given time?

If yes to the above, I'll get it this week and bump around onit until DW and SHIII come out...maybe even afterward when I just feel like a real-time cruise.

Well combat and submarines are a secondary function of the program (its primarily sail boats). There are weapons but they are limited to one shot at a time and weapons like SLCMs, SUBROCs or air dropped torps aren't possible.

There are no sim like sensors so detection doesn’t matter. And the AI will not attack unless you attack them.

There are no AI at sea unless you place them (the current version of the game is experiencing some AI problems they don't go where you tell them).

But check out
http://home.bigblue.net.au/jasonandanna/
and
http://www.virtual-sailor.net/
for the ship list.

The good side of the sim is that you can drive around lots of different boats. From a Sampan to a Container Ship to a Racing Yacht. Also where else can you walk around a virtual sub, just wait untill my awsome OSCAR interor is done!

My interest would be purely multiplayer. I'd like to bump around the oceans tracking other people's vessels. Does the periscope work?
Im very interested in the Russian sub models.

Most of the subs have a Periscopeish view (Just the normal view with a cross hairs.)

There is a mulitplayer server that me and several other guys had a sub war on the other day.

Best thing to do is grab the demo. You can swap the current boats for one of the subs (The SSN 637 by Mike Hense and Ohio & Kilo by Me and Spookymufu are probaly the best out there.)

Take it out for a spin and maybe drive around the multiplayer server for a few 5 min sessons.

I'll need a link to the Kilo you guys made. I'll be buying the full version this weekend, but I'd like to put it on the demo for now.

I think you’re allowed to have up to 5 boats and one scenery in the demo.

You can cut out the default stuff and replace it, your not limited to which 5 boats and single scenery you have. :know:

Just wait until I make interiors for the Oscar and Akula (Which another person may help me make an reactor room for.) They will rock! CCPs, Sonar Shacks and stocked Torpedo Bays! Yep EVEN RED STARS ON THE TORPEDOES!! Neutral\
......... Assuming I can map them correctly....

Also check out the WIP 688 FLT 1 by Jason Simpson on the forum I mentioned earlier. I may make an interior for this eventually but I need to finish my current projects first.
