There's been lots of discussion about the noise pollution that modern sonars and high frequency radio transmissions produce when they're being used among naval forces and the harm they cause for sealife. Whales, dolphins etc behaving strangely, possibly getting damage to their senses, driven to shores trying to escape the "noise", etc.
I was just wondering if this'd be modelled in DW. Whales getting off the sea when using sonars and radio near the coast and maybe in some cases angry Greenpeace boats swarming around the harbours trying to block your way and stuff.. :hmm: :hmm: |

I seriously doubt this will be modelled and I hope no time was wasted doing such so that it could be used in details elsewhere. |

I have similar feelings. Could make a good scenario though, with the FFG, the Greenpeace boats charge at you and you need to microwave them before they get close |

I think one of Bill Nichols SC scenarios featured Greenpeace activists charging the players submarine on the first mission of the deployment. Excellent stuff. |

I hope this time we will be able to hear the whales and other biologics. |

You can hear whales and shrimp in SC, they just need to be put there by the scenario designer. |

Yes, they are in Sub Command. However, it's like there is only one species of whale. There are more biologic sounds that could be included into the game I feel. Granted, they are being swamped right now, so in a future patch or combination of patches? Please remember that this is from someone that listened to them in the pacific.

Rather than whales i'd like to ear the subs... I have no clue if this is realistic but, in "the hunt for red october" the sonar guy did ear those rhytmic beats of the Typhoon, now in SC, even at HF range, no sound at all :nope: :hmm: |

Yeah, "Silent Dolphins" is what it's called, I'm half way through it at the moment, you start out just west of San Francisco Bay, getting pursued by feral hippies who are trying to save us all from ourselves … you know, that sort of reactionary gunk.
Great atmospherics at the beginning of that campaign. |

There was even whale song in 688i, before SC. |

I have a little request about whales :
instead of the only looooong file of SC, could you put more différent files, like 4 or 5, shorter sized, maybe randomised or selected with the editor (5 différents whales) -or maybe the 2 options-
I listened the entire file of the whale the first week when i bought SC, and from this day, I don't spend more than few seconds to listen to this file.
certainly some différent files, shorter but more various, will improve the immersion with easy work to do (5 whales -say bio with shrimp- is very easy for you to implement)
just to make an easy improvment not to much time consuming ... |
