What kind of sonobuoy is deployed here from the P3? :hmm:
Think is a DIFAR but not sure, she deploy like an umbrella with an array of microphones (I guess) .

Wow, great movie, what an amazing little sensor! I sometimes wondered what they looked like under water, but wasn't expecting something like that. |

Wow... I wish we'd seen that about a year ago when we were budgetting for new models, because I think that would have been time well spent on that.
But to answer your question, no. The upper canister remains near the surface and the sensor is dropped down along on the line in a "simulated fashion" in terms of the realistc depth of the sensor itself. We do not have anything in 3D to depict the current sensor depth, however.
Very cool movie, though! |

Hi Jamie,
More importantly, how is the depth of the sensor simulated in the game. Many sonobouys can have more than one sensor depth. Is this modeled in DW? Or is does the sensor have only one depth setting based on its Z-coordinate?
cheers, jsteed |

That is an SSQ-101 ADAR (air deployable active receiver). They are currently not in the inventory and are more of an experimental stage. As you can see they have multiple hydrophones and are designed for long range active returns. |

Here's a simplistic animation of a more standard sonobouy... like how a difar would deploy:

Ok, thanks for the reply (I am more expert with PROVOR or PALACE drifters than sonobuoy !)
