Thanks Tom to have spotted this preview out but the lady as she admits has almost never been playing sub sims beside a little 688 touch therefore the interesting part of the review IMO are the screenshots only....I would like to see a preview made from a sub player anyway I have red it till the end.

Told that I still put here one of my unanswered question : Surprised

Does the on line data manual report any frequency of active sonars ? I mean f.i. does the Krivak tech description have the frequency of her own active sonar ? This of course to have a couple of possibilities to choose from when active pinged from an other platform,a feature that 688 had and SC missed. Stare

Maps seems to be more accurate. Thumbs Up
And in one of the latest pics in the preview it seems there is a light in one of the masts?

Hi Boomer,
From the readings I've done, active sonar sets do not have unique frequency settings. Many sets from several countries will use the same frequency ranges. To use your example of a Krivak, it uses the MG-332 Titan 2 sonar set. According to the World Naval Weapons Systems, 1991/92, it is also on the first 2 Kievs, the Mod Kashins and Sovermennyys. It is suppose to be comparable to the US sonar SQS-56 which is used on the Perry class.

In fact, some surface ships use high frequency sonars that have the same frequency ranges as a helicopter's dipping sonar. So one cannot even distinquish between an airborne and surface contact. Ping

cheers, jsteed

Also, some sonar sets have the ability to ping at different frequencies. I remember reading somewhere that some russian sets pinged with three different "notes" to beat thermal layers, and that they sounded like the first three notes in "Mary had a little lamb".

Mmmm, interesting, either its a pixel with a wrong colour code (go figure, sure, dadada blblblblbl Rotfl )

I know submarines must show an amber light in peace time while travelling in places with traffic. It wouldn't be wise to show it in wartime Razz

I mean is this an Expansion for Sub Command as the control bar on DW looks exactually the same as SC. I know its a naval sim but why haven't i heard about it in gaming magazines in there preview pages etc., Will this game be available here in New Zealand when it comes out. I hope so! looks damn good.

Will it just be subs we control or is it gonna be like Fleet command gameplay?

IF AT FIRST YOU DONT SUCCEED, THEN BOMB DISPOSAL PROBABLY ISN"T FOR YOU.
