|
|
I have just installed Redwine's Precision TDC/Periscope mod v7 in 1024x768...
Is anyone running the 1024x768 version of his mod?
The TDC gauges all work fine and look great. The Periscope all looks fine but I seem to be missing what I can only assume are the bearing/heading indicators at the top of the periscope on either side of it. what I mean is...the fields are empty (ie no numbers to indicate the bearing at which I'm looking). I have to assume that's what goes in there cause I haven't used the mod before and no where on my scope screen can I see a bearing indicator. I have installed the mod twice with the same result. once from a completely fresh install of the game.
Just wondering if any1 else has seen this problem or might know how to rectify the situation so that I can have a bearing to target from the scope screen. As you can imagine, not having this info makes doing manual shots rather more difficult lol.
Thanks in advance fer any words of wisdom
Cheers

Hi.......
Please check this........
1]
Check if you have installed and in the correct folder the folowing files...........containing the precision charts.
3600ScopeGauge 2.tga
3600CompassSlider 2.tga
into the folder
C:\........\SSI\Silent Hunter II\Sim\Art\Interface
2]
Check if you have the Periscope.dsf file installed and into the correct folder........... check it is NOT into .....\DSF folder, instead it must to be into ........\DSF\1024 folder.
Periscope.dsf
into
C:\.................\SSI\Silent Hunter II\Sim\Dsf\1024
3]
Check if your Persicope.dsf file contains the following lines...........
;; Periscope Sight Bearing
[DIAL]
Type = Strip
Image = 3600ScopeGauge 2
;Bounds = 366,64,436,80
Bounds = 141,8,241,24
UV = 0,0,1800,16
UV2 = 0,16,1800,32
Color = 255,255,255,255
Value = 0
Offset = 303
Priority = 8
Prompt = #{Scope Sight Bearing}#
ID = 20
;; Periscope Sight Magnetic Heading
[DIAL]
Type = Strip
Image = 3600CompassSlider 2
Transparent = TRUE
Bounds = 784,8,884,24
UV = 0,0,1800,16
UV2 = 0,16,1800,32
;Color = 220,0,0,220
Color = 255,210,0,255
Value = 0
Offset = 303
Prompt = #{Scope Sight Heading}#
Priority = 8
ID = 28
If not .........correct the lines as above...............
4]
If you have all correct and you still with the charts not in sight...........
Your video card is not capable to manage non standard textures
Go to the folder "Crash Fix" into the mod, read all readme carefully and slowly and follow one of both procedures inside it.................
Attempt first with the procedure into the folder :
1 Square Texture Fix
This first fix procedure insert a giant but square texture.........
if not attempt with the next procedure into the folder :
2 Non Precision Charts
With this second fix procedure, you will loss the precision charts, but you can remain with the graphics enhancements...........and this fix works for all people because installs the standard textures.........
I wait you solve your problem with some of these............
Best regards, Red. |

Thanks fer responding red. I did send you the .jpg of the scope screen but i guess you understand what's going on.
first off I'm running with a 9800pro vid card so I think I should be ok. but if the crash fix is the answer I'll try that. I don't think that I need it though as I fiound a discrepency in your list of things to check and what I have. Please see below.
1]
I checked my .tga files in sim/art/interface
I DO NOT have the following:
3600ScopeGauge 2.tga
3600CompassSlider 2.tga
instead, I have:
3600ScopeGuage.tga (notice the missing '2' at the end of the file name)
3600CompassSlider.tga (notice the missing '2' at the end of the file name)
IMPORTANT: I checked the files in the 1024x768 folder I downloaded and also noticed that there are no such files included either. ie I actually downloaded
3600ScopeGauge.tga
3600CompassSlider.tga
NOT
3600ScopeGauge 2.tga
3600CompassSlider 2.tga
If this is important, you may want to check your download to see if the correct files are contained therein.
2]
I have double checked and yes I copied the the Periscope.dsf file to the correct folder
3]
I checked the file lines in the Periscope.dsf and they are correct except that they are referencing (in line 2) of both the Periscope Sight Bearing and Periscope Sight Magnetic Heading: 3600ScopeGuage 2 and 3600CompassSlider 2 respectively.
as mentioned above, I only have:
3600ScopeGuage.tga
3600CompassSlider.tga
and they are what came with my download.
4]
As mentioned above, I'm running a 9800pro so I should be ok, but I'll wait to see what happens after I have the correct files.
Again, thanks for the response. Any chance of getting those 2 files to me?
3600ScopeGauge 2.tga
3600CompassSlider 2.tga
Sorry if the post seemed repetitive, just wanted to make it clear what I had and what is missing.
Cheers

K, Red.
It's possible that it's fixed...w00t...
after writing that big long thing I did a quick search on my sys for
3600ScopeGauge 2.tga
3600CompassSlider 2.tga
I found them in the texture fix folder and threw them into sim/art/interface. So far so good. I just started up SHII and I now have bearing and heading indicators where they should be. i'll let you know if anything else goes amiss.
But I think, if I'm not mistaken....
1, you have given me a great tutorial on manual TDC.
2, you have given me a great mod for shooting manually that's accurate over much longer ranges.
3, you have now fixed the mod which I thought was faulty
and most importantly
4, you showed me how to figure the formulas for calculating relative target course. ( I have yet to tackle target speed formulas )
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN'T DO?
Thanks again for all your help.
