Since they model the Oliver too bad there isn't any Russian equivalent of it. Just imagine hunting US SSN with it in multiplayer mode.

Thse sky still looks eerr dated becos now we have surface ship and helo and the P-3 orion modelled so i guess we're going to see a lot of that sky. Other than that it's a hell of a simulation. Good work Sonalyst. I've always admired your Sub Command.

Just my two cents (+ a blank cheque of 1 million dollars value) Rotfl

At the moment there is no Russian surface vessel but SA have said that if the game sells well then they will consider releasing an expansion pack with extra playable vessles.

Hmm the new models looks terrific.
Too bad the sky won't change that much since SC. The coloring is just too dark IMHO. Come on the sky is not that dark blue but a rater light blue instead, unless you're nearing the outermost atmosphere..

Just my two cents

I'm hoping for the Arleigh Burke DDG in any expansion pack. Yep

A Tico would be nice as well, but I would prefer a russian Surface ship and a ASW A/C before them...

This was discussed a while ago, but we may as well discuss it again Very Happy

Simulating the Neustrashimy would be fairly pointless, insofar as realisim goes anyway. With only 1 active, the other two were scrapped before completion, it could be great in game, but not too realistic.

Instead I would prefer a addon pack to contain (for example):

    RUSSIA:

  • Sovremenny Class DDG or a Udaloy Class DDG
  • KA-27 Helix Helo (Need to have something flying off the new surface ships).

    USA:

  • Ticonderoga Class CG or a Arleigh Burke Class DDG

and perhaps for both Russia and China

  • IL-38 May Maritime Patrol A/C

Question: IRL, do the Chinese have a dedicated Maritime Patrol A/C? I have looked but cant find one...

Actually, the udaloy uses the KA-25 hormone (a pain in 688 me thinks) and the second batch II uses the KA-27/29/32 helix.

But i'm just seeking flees, don't mind me....

Chinese helicopter, the only thing i found was:
AS 565 Panther
SA 360 Dauphin 2
Z-9

The AS 565 SB is the armed version of the shipborne Panther. It can be carried on board a combat vessel to improve the vessel's observation, reconnaissance and attack capabilities well beyond the range of the vessel's detection system.

Well, Seawolfes or Akula IIs aren't that nummerous either...

Just to continou the spectulation I would say that most in future added units would have a strong ASW component. Pure air defense would need a lot more indepth SAM model and flightmodel/AI for planes. I am thinking of Lock On depth on SAM systems. Otherwise it seems rather pointless.
A surface warfare unit sound interesting but it remains questionable to me how much fun it would be. Gain radar cotact, launch 8 Uran missles and return to base for rearming. I realy don't know how much fun it would be without trying it myselfe.
In my opinion this rules out units like the Ticonderoga or the Sovremenny ( what a pitty Sad ).

I would bet my money on further ASW frigates. If not the Neustrashimy ( would be my fav, but indeed a bit few in numbers... ) then the Krivak II, III or Udaloy. But thats of course just wild speculation Smile

A Krivak would be the closest Russian equivalent to the FFG-7. But, it sure would be nice if a Spruance, Burke, Udaloy or Sovremennyy were playable.

After reading some comments here, I concede that it would be nice to have a Russian playable surface ship to balance out the game at a future date. If not the Neustrashimy, how about the Krivak. Wouldn't that balance out the Perry? But out of any additional playable surface units, I just love the idea of an Arleigh Burke or Ticonderoga.
