Eaj13,

Thanks for a great site. Got it bookmarked.

I have visited the USS Olympia several times, ( Philadelphia, it's my home town ) and recommend to anyone to take a tour.

Good Hunting,
FUBAR

Hi Fubar

Thanks for your interest. Having visited the ship, do you think the preservation status is OK? What about the engines room? Do you got some pics from it?
regards
Alex

Eaj13,

The ship is in very good shape considering its over 100 years old. The Association that runs it does a remarkable job, with most people who work there are basically volunteers with a few paid staff. Restoration and upkeep has been a on going project for years.

I do have photographs from my visits, but unfortunately do not have them scanned to post. Placed that on my to do list with the many other to do's, so I can not promise how soon.

On a aside, the USS New Jersey is berthed just across the Delaware River from the Olympia. Another great warship to visit.

Good Hunting,
FUBAR
