I'd rather see a game play demo. A movie would be nice. But more so I'd like to have a graphics-lite playable demo.

Demos are usually made after testing of a final beta release.
SH3 has a ways to go yet on that score...

Hmmm, well I guess it is possible that the development of the graphics engine that is giving us these screenshots is much farther along in development than the game engine. Probably much easier to make a decent renderer or to license an existing one than to develop a great game...uh...simulation engine.

Still, if a playable demo isn't forthcoming for awhile, I'd like to see a developer's journal, or something informative about what features we can expect, or features they're considering, or features they're not considering, written by a member of the development team.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a thousand words of "we're doing this...and this...and not this..." is worth a thousand pictures.

A 'cunning tower'? That I HAVE to see!

Sounds like Blackadder meets Das Boot!

Cap'n Blackadder: "Seaman Baldrick, the enemy is in sight. But fear not! I have a cunning tower."

Seaman Baldrick: "Uh, isn't that a 'conning' tower, sir?"

Cap'n Blackadder: "Silence you insolent imbecile! I meant, as any idiot (with the obvious exception of yourself) could easily ascertain, a cunning PLAN! Now, where's the chart?"

Seaman Baldrick: "On the chart table, sir."

Laughing

Talking about conning towers. Was there ever a U-Boat sim that simulated the inside of a conning tower ?

Would be great if SHIII had the two scopes in the right place, and therefore simulate a conning tower for the 2nd scope.

Voted for more virtual crew/interieur screenshots,

Have seen some external views of enemy ships, and ocean state, with reflections and such, already.

The latest screen shots look nice, but as somebody had pointed out already, that the enemy ships were a tad small, the ship models were small looking, But they seemed to be rendered nicely.

Would now like to see some interiour shots of crew/different stations/sonar room/ control room/ etc etc.

Also Conning tower shots, hmmmm im going abit overboard now lol, but it would be nice to see some veiws from the conning tower, with rough sea states, and maybe some views of ships, in the distance through bin ocs or something like that.

Go have a look at page 7 of the "MORE EYE CANDY" thread. Than come back here and vote like me: none. Í´ll probably skip SH3 and wait for SHIV. Maybe in ten years graphics will be today´s standard...

I voted for interiors also, but I would like to see more of everything. I have played the Virtual Sailor demo, and will probably get the game soon, as it's a lot of fun. Those screen shots are great, and that night shot in the harbor is simply amazing. I'd love to return to Wilhelmshaven and have a vision like that waiting for me.

Is it possible that we all confuse "Virtual Sailor" with "Virtual Skipper 3" and vice versa? Might be my fault, too, as I confused it in the beginning....

"Virtual Skipper3" is the sim with those photorealitic graphics. Virtual Sailor seems to an amateur-one-man prodction, the demo is just about 7MB. Still, it looks better than SH2 and its open code invites you to build own ships....

Cheers, AS

yeah i,ve checked out virtual skipper to . great grafics .
but it shows that its not impossible to have a crew on deck! they should have this feature in SHIII for the deck gun crew. and maybe even for the conning tower and aa guns. see? its not hard.
