.
All the visuals have been completely revised. Two things you should notice are
1. There is a themed look to everything visual you come across.
2. There is nothing “parade ground” about these subs. They are working war machines showing the effects of months of continuous campaigning. You will see mess, gunk, wear and tear and the ravages of water everywhere.
And yes some degree of artistic license has been used to create a Pacific wartime feel. Think “Band of Brothers” and you get the idea.
A lot of the layout of the stations will be familiar to you but they will look completely different. In some such as the Scope, Navigation Gauges, TDC, Capt Quarters, you will need to readjust to some repositioning of the controls.
The scope comes in two versions ; the default is a “standard” scope that operates in the familiar way, an optional extra which is an authentic Kollmorgan scope (more demanding on your system) . There will be a later post about this.
Both 1024 and 800 graphics are supported in the full version available from SubSim shortly. The 1024 graphics will not be included in the lite version .
Most of your targets , the Japanese ships , have been retextured with a distinctive “tropical livery “ skin. – all the merchants, a new looking Yamato, some cruisers and most of the destroyers.
Menu screens and other game visuals will be outlined in later post.

Top notch work, guys.
Just a question or two:
What system requirements will this new Pacific Mod require?
And will the new graphics and sub stations work with all graphics cards?
Looking forward to this
Cheers! |

Thanks Fletch

Any system that runs SHII will run PA. The only items I can think of that might give problems are all offered as options in the installer - these are the Kollmorgan Scope and the environmental mods. The default scope (shown above) uses the same system as SHII.

Same answer really ..... the optional Kollmorgan scope will push some cards . There'll be something on this in a few days . |

New Gato and Balao submarines have higher poly counts compared to other models in the game. This will add some load on the cards. |

Right. Thanks Serg. I'd forgot about them . I'd never noticed a slow down but some other machines will have a lower threshold. |

I hate to dissappoint you. Currently, there are no harbors packed with ships and no assignments to get a Scope Recon Photo in Pacific mod. But you should be able to add your own templates with ships in the harbor for campaigns generated with PACG. |

Though i must admit that i will miss life guard and photo recon duties, those can be the least of my worries. I'd thank the team for whatever i get at first hand and then make suggestions on how to improve it. |

The mod has been developed in an effort to ship a bulletproof and ejoyable product, as well as keeping the objectives reasonably achievable. But it is completely opened to further improvements, and some new tasks like photo recon and mine laying in the Emperor´s Lake are not difficult to add. It´s just that we wanted to avoid taking a too big bite that could later become asfixiating.... :know:
But further patches will add missions like that ( Lifeguard duty is almost impossible, as you can´t make a leif boat dissapear once you reach it and you can´t script REACH objectives for time-delayed units ) as well as new patrol zones....allowing them all to be present, randomly, in the generated campaigns
Cheers |
