I seriously doubt what goes on in this forum will have any impact on the development of the game. There would be very little suggested here that the developers haven't considered themselves, and who better to make the decisions on what is included than someone with a knowledge on how the game is shaping out. It will always be their game, and rightly so.
While they must appear to be in contact with the community, as a source of intelligence a forum is not reliable. |

I don't put too much stock in box art. That can be changed in a few minutes by an artist. A screenshot is more down the line than box art. But I do believe that in the case of SH3, they will definitely look for good ideas and strong desires found on this board. Companies pay good money for market studies to determine what the public wants. After all the harping on the need for a dynamic campaign, I will be surprised if they don't provide that. If they don't, there won't be much of a hard core u-boat sub sim community left for any future titles. |

I wouldn't take too much stock in box art. All it takes to make that image would be Photoshop and a little time. The "E" ESRB rating could be slapped on easiy as well. Somehow I don't imagine a game going from "pre-alpha" in December to late-enough-beta-that-we-can-send-a-copy-to-the-ESRB in January.
Hope is cool though |

Yeah, it sure is slick lookin', tho, isn't it? It sold me, I'm going to call and order the game this coming week, cause I want to help support sub-sim, and what better way to do this (as well as sending in money to Neal for the great job he is doing..) It only takes a little from ALL of us to make a difference. |

Thanks!
Yes, if only 5% of the traffic Subsim gets ordered a game once in a while, I could have beans with my crackers |

I doubt SH3 has advanced so much as the screenshots look like rendered artwork rather than real ingame graphics (except for the interior shot).
Thereīs one thing that keeps my hope alive, though, that SH3 will be a real good one: SH2 was a pain in the ass, and even those who are not really into the genre could easily see the obsolete graphics and undfinished appeal of the whole unfinished thing. No wonder SH2 was rated 60 percent or so and given only half a column with a tiny picture in most game magazines - I donīt believe Ubi Soft would be stupid enough to undergo the same thing again, as it would somewhat spoil their reputation.
I donīt know how many bad or obsolete games a publisher can "afford" before getting a bad reputation, but personally I and a couple of friends were so pissed off by the lack of support for SH2 (you remember the multiplayer-patch desaster) and the overall bad quality (even the boxart looked somewhat cheap, didn t it?) that we avoided other games published by UbiSoft...

P.S.: ...not to mention this lousy Destroyer Command kind of thing which was literally ignored or ridiculed by many game magazines - no offense intended if there are some DC lovers out there, Iīm just referring to the more or less objective eye of the ordinary beholder... |

oh this has been done before ! remember boomer? it took pre-orders only to vanish into the deep forever .
as to the release of SHIII i seriously doubt that the sim will come out any time soon . personally i think we could consider ourselves happy if it comes out in the end of this year. |
