Do you think a human manned Destroyer is an NEED for interesting MP games?
YES, a fully humman manned DD is a MUST for Multiplayer Naval Games.

NO, I Prefer they focus on a Submarine sim possibilities, not considering MP possibilities about U-Boat vs DD.

While we are still celebrating the news about this new subsim, nothing have been said about a possible Destroyer Command or Surface manned unit to play against U-boats online.

I am among those players who prefers to man Destroyers on MP games against subs (Silent Hunter II vs Destroyer Command)

I want to know your ideas and interests about having or not a human manned Destroyer version to play against U-Boats on MP games or you rather keep it a just subs, limited to Single player or Cooperative MP games.

Not enough degrees of choice for me. I voted for having destroyers, but I'd really justl like it to be open and modable enough so they can be added at a later date. I really want to play with surface ships, but I think it's most important that they get the gameplay right first.

I had to vote no. I personally would prefer they perfect the sub sim. Yes, the DD stuff would be nice, but for my personal preference, concentrate your efforts on the recreation of the U-Boat experience (please).

I agree. Possibly in an add-on after SHIII release. A dynamic campaign and good career mode will keep me occupied until they make the DD's playable.

I don't think DC sold well enough for a sequel (I could be wrong). I personally would be content with a MP setup that allows one player to direct from a C&C map view the escorts and merchants against the other players' U-boats. :know:

Well Neal, then I hope you keep thye actual Wolfpack league and Eagle League running with SHII and DC so we can make realistic encounters U-Boat vs DD. :nope:
After long time on the virtual battles I came to conclusion no AI vessel matches the skills of human skippers. Eirther you have super computer invulnerable units, or plain stupid ones. Both ways, not as much exciting and interesting as playing against a human U-Boat skipper (or a Tin Can Captain)

Well I trully hope you keep the WPL alive for SHII and DD for STATS.

Personaly i think they should focus on getting all the sub related stuff right first, then after release worry about adding a dd game or addon.

Also if this game is easily modable if they dont include dd's im sure some creative team could come up with a good dd mod for multiplayer.

I believe SH2 suffered from having to be fitted for Destroyer Command. After all, they had to develop the games so that both sides would have a fair chance of winning any scenario to please the majority. This wasn't realistic for early or late war. I never got to play an MP game without radars.

Also MP as a concept seems to value immediate action above the thrill of uncertainty. I believe this is why SH2 had hydrophones that worked above surface and DC had huff-duff with range-direction finding. Since avoiding the enemy is one tactic to success in both warfares, a lot of realism was lost.

Finally, from my experience, that comes from SH2fleet.com, the "one type of warfare against a different one" idea doesn't work well in games. Both sides abused the unrealistic features as much as they could, an so the community had to waste time arguing what the opponents should and shouldn't do, "historical accuracy" this and "historical accuracy" that, failing to find a practical set of rules within a reasonable time, a year or so. I don't know how they are faring today, though.

In my book a good multiplayer is more valuable than a good campaign, because the enemy will human controlled and thus unpreticteble. But thats just me loving MP
