This would be a great feature to play with other players on different stations on the same sub.

I just wish they could make it a possibility where myself and two others on some lanned pc's sharing a dsl link play off against or coop with other grouped players in thier manned sub.

I imagine it might be end up with 2 players per sub. One driving and one on sonar. It would still alot of fun.

Another possible enhancment for immersion is a sub you could walk around in. Maybe for the purposes of fixing certain parts of the sub.

Imagine you have just been depth charged, you are leaking badly and are sinking, you have to race down to the torpedo room to fix the leak.
Otherwise autorepairs just take a little longer. Just an idea.

Any devs here ?

In a modern day submarine, having a friend man sonar would be quite useful, especially while you do TMA.

In SH, however, sonar is very basic. I don't see how you can go beyond what you already get from the sonarman : "High/low speed screw bearing XXX"

As for racing down to the torpedo room, well, I'm not sure that'd work :

a) They'd have to model every single system on the submarine, and the proper way to fix them. Corrolary : You'd have to learn to fix them. If you want to take marine engineering, the course last four or so years.

b) You'd have to leave the conn unattended. During a depth charge run, would you go and get a Pepsi?

c) How realistic is it to have the captain running around fixing leaks?

Perhaps split it so one handles navigation, manuvering, persiscope, and the attack order, while the other handles sensors (Sonar/Radar), tracking, tdc, torpedo setups.

Or the captain/first officer roles

yes it may not be striclt realistic to divide the tasks up like this between two players but in gameplay terms it works to satisfy the itch..allso would allow folks to exapand on the multiplayer side by forming pernament teams and getting familiar with their partners strenghts etc..giving some of the more seriuos on-line players something to perhaps get their teeth into short of human DD SUB action (if there's not to be new destroyer command to partner the game)
giving the sonar man access to a "observation" periscope would help the thing along aswell.. (a lot of subs had two scopes am i right on that)
any huw two player manned subs on line offers a lot of opportunity for on-line leagues etc.. adding extra meaning to any competition when working as a team..(allways keep the same pairings etc)
and it would be fun..

Mmmm, yes, modern machines have a greater need of a partner....like it happens on flight sims. I pretty much abandoned the modern fighters sims ( Jane´s Fighter Anthologhy and F15 ) because I basically only have 10 fingers Laughing ....

Team sims has been -I remember right now- one about the Apache Helicopter ( Team Apache?? ), and sure there must be some othere here or there....

But cooperative work is surely much important on a DD rather than on a sub.

Anyhow, all improvements -including this one discussed here- will be wellcome!

Yep several subs have at least 2 often 3 scopes, usualy an attack scope (very small and narrow to make it hard to spot), a bigger navigation scope, and sometimes a scope that looks straight up (for astral navigation)

That "straight up scope" was also used to check for enemy bombers. Smile
