Could be interesting ?
Submarine Patrol (1938)
XXth Century Fox
Richard Greene, Nancy Kelly, Preston Foster, George Bancroft.
Director: John Ford
" The inexperienced crew of S-599 one of the submarine chasers that set sail from Brooklyn in 1917" The so called "Splinter Fleet"

Thanks Drebbel, at least the poster. This seems to be a forgotten movie. There are also one or two more WWI US submarine movies from the 20īs (silent films), of course unable to be found.
best regards

I read the synopsis. But I think its a surfave vessel movie, and not a sub movie.
.....A naval officer is demoted for negligence and put in command of a run-down submarine chaser and with a motley crew......Ford's WWI seagoing adventure follows the inexperienced crew of S-599, one of the submarine chasers that set sail from Brooklyn in 1917 on a mission to track down U-boats. Navy man Foster gets demoted into his command of the questionably seaworthy freighter, and the even less promising crew, including playboy Greene. He gets them in shape and all hands are on deck for depth-charging the U-boats......
Also Known As:
Splinter Fleet, The (1938) (USA: original script title)
Suicide Fleet (1938) (USA: working title)
Wooden Anchors (1938) (USA: working title) |

Yes you are right. Basically a vessel movie. In the last ones I listed seems to be more submarine action.
