Thanks Thomas...

I dunno what it is with the SSGN's...are the min/max ranges in the USNI correct for the various missile types? Perhaps my Oscar-II was too close, or my Charlie too far?

Hi Odin,
The Victor I had an error in the bin file. I have corrected it and it will be released along with all the revamped SCU subs.

Cheers, jsteed

Thanks, jsteed Smile

Another thing of notice...the Posiedon Russian DSRV is listed as being in the game, both in the USNI, and in the SCXII readme. I can't seem to find a way to place one, however. No "mini-sub" selection is available under the Russian section.
Anyways, on that topic, I was wondering: a) Do the SCU subs actually carry DSRV's? I can't seem to get one on the back of a sub unless it's one of the main 3 playables.
b) Do Russian subs carry the Posiedon DSRV, or are they still forced to carry an American one?
c) Does the Russian India Class SSAG actually launch / carry the Poseidons in game?

Thanks all,

Odin.

Hi Odin

I can't recall if the Poseidon is selectable in SCX II. It is in SCX IIc, and it was in SCX 1.2, ... but, I have a feeling that somewhere between SCX 1.2 and SCX II, ... I went astray with the databases, ... or something to that effect.

Anyway, it is selectable as a Mini-Sub under Russia ... in SCX IIc.

Currently, with SCX II, .. only the default Subs have DSRVs.

In SCX IIc, ... I have configured the following Subs, to carry DSRVs.

All the 688 boats.
All the Akula boats.
Sierra-II
Collins --- NB: This Sub desperately needed a DSRV.
Virginia
Sturgeon
Trafalgar

Unfortunately, due to hard-coding .... all Subs have to use the American DSRV. As soon as you mention the word DSRV ... the proggie bungs on an Avalon. Talk about being bloody single-minded.

The India SSAG can carry the Poseidons, ... but, can't Launch them ... as the Poseidons are not true DSRVs.

The Poseidon, as it's currently configured ... is a sorta hybrid thingie. Half Sub, Half Plane. It was the only way, that I could get the little buggers onto the India.

The India doesn't have them attached by default, ... you have to edit the Mission itself ... to get them on the India.

Create your Mission, ... and set up the India SSAG as per any other Sub. Once you have saved the Mission, ... use any text Editor to edit the Mission, .. and make the following change to the India's info.

e.g.

ENTITY 1777 SUBENTITY < ---- India SSAG
HULLID 7
ALLIANCE 1
POS 568840.814874 503886.882968 -225
POINTS 750
COURSE 267
SPEED 7
PROB 100
UNIQUENAME "SS 486 4"
COMMSINTERVAL 0.000000
TACTIC TRANSIT
WAYPOINT 453176.518993 498138.588920 -225 2
WAYPOINT 350750.260000 448674.200431 -225 2
WAYPOINT 248324.001008 399209.811942 -225 2
WAYPOINT 145897.742015 349745.423453 -225 2
AIRCRAFT 1778 2 Alert5 2 : 0 1 Alert15 0 : Alert30 0 : <--- Insert this line here.

Save da Mission ....

Now, when you run the Mission, .... the baba subs will appear in their 'cots' on the India.

Cheers
Tom

@ Jsteed:

Another Victor problem...this time on the Victor-III...sometimes tube 5 won't flood. Seems a similar problem to the Vic-I problem.

Cheers,
Odin

Hi Odin,
I'm not sure what the problem could be since SCU does not modify the fire control dll's at all.

cheers, jsteed

A note about my problems with the Oscar - II...I realized that it's a comms problem...with enuff time comp., they do eventually fire.
But why were the Echo & Charlie-II fire immediately (in every test), but the Oscar-II's (!Not the -I's!, they worked immediately as well) wouldn't fire until they finally got comms?

Cheers,
Odin

Hello everybody.

I saw that this was asked before, but without answer.

The Alfa is suposed to achieve dephs around 900 meters due its titanium hull, but in the game, when I use an Alfa, I can not go bellow 500 meters.

How can I solve it?

Thank you.

My understanding is that:
The Alfa has been the subject of much disinformation and misunderstanding. The Alfa's hull is indeed made out of titanium however it is not of the thickness to achive Sierra or Mike like depths. Its thin titanium hull is to provide speed from a smaller reactor not extradnary depth.

If you really want to Solve this "problem" you can use SCEdit (Found on my site among others) to change the max depth with the 3rd button from the left and Maxaltitude.

Thank you very much for your help. I thought that the Alfa needs to go so deep to achieve its maximum speed.

I also know that the titanium hull makes the Alfa more dificult to detect with the MAD.

Thanks again.

TLAM,

There is a link to an article you posted earlier on in this thread about Mk 45 torps (Pg 4, I think) that says
Quote:
The advent of the Soviet ALPHA submarine with its non-magnetic titanium hull, 2500 foot diving depth and submerged speed in excess of 40 knots

How can this be the case if it's not that deep diving? Or is this site in error?

Well the whole western world seemed to be in error. Remember the Alfa was designed for attacking Carrier Groups not ASW and at the time it was designed stealth and deep diving was not a proitity for the Russian Navy.

Of course the only people who truly know what the capablitys of this boat are is the people who designed it, dived it, and tracked it.
