I don't believe that unless you have an almost instinctive, inborn attraction to a sim like SHIII you will ever come to enjoy it.
It is like those racing car games I see at the store with the auto steering wheel controlers and brake and gas pedals. I think I would rather have a root canal that play one of those things....but that is just me...and I fault nobody who does enjoy them. I simply don't understand the attraction and waste little time trying to figure it out. |

I used to draw Type VIIs in my notebooks in high school. To me the Type VII has such a beautiful silouette.
I'm with you on the diesel/electric vs nuclear thing. I never had any interest in nuclear subs.
Patrol ranges, length of time on station--those sorts of things fascinate me. I'm always intrigued by accounts of Drumbeat--the idea of a submarine traveling all the way across the Atlantic, and then that image of the skipper peering through his periscope at some fully-lit American seaside town... |
