|
|
Subsim Review has added a dedicated server to host mods.
If you have a mod and you would like to have it hosted here, simply zip, include a description and your name, and e-mail to mods@subsim.com
We will have it up on the Downloads sections as soon as possible.
If your mod is too large for e-mail, just send a note to mods@subsim.com and the Mod Folder FTP info will be sent to you.
Try to send a final version so we only have to post it once, unless it is a large project and you anticipate significant upgrades over time. In that case we will happily add the upgraded versions as you need.
*******READ ME EXAMPLE********
Mod name (size in MBs) by YOUR NAME - This mod for GAME NAME does this and that, it adds this, lets you do this and that, etc. etc.
--features
--notes
--installation instructions
--misc
Your name
Your e-mail
Subsim reserves the right to add any mods announced here.
Thanks, and good hunting!
Neal

Also, please note: I have been major busy this last few weeks with the Dangerous Waters & SH3 reviews and lately with the final migration to the new server. Please feel very welcome to bug me or cyber-slap me to get my attention if there is a mod that someone needs hosting for and I have not responded. Thanks! |

Thanks, this will help get people to stop complaining about the files being hosted on my site.
I was about ready to stop trying to make mods and let people make thier own.
Neal you rock. |

Don't suppose you feel like hosting a few hundred megabytes worth of skins? |

Anything larger than 20MBs probably will need to be hosted as a "Bonus Mod". These are exclusively available to players who have helped support Subsim (and help me pay for that new server ). If that is ok with you, send the FTP or download link to subsim@subsim.com You will be helping this website.
The Downloads section will be updated this weekend with all the new mods, so if you sent a message to the Subsim Mod Master in the last week, you will be getting a reply soon.
thanks!

I think that is perfectly reasonable. Also, out of interest could you tell us how your site has been affected since the release of SH3 in terms of usage/bandwidth etc. |

The traffic Subsim gets has gone up nearly 10x.
Before Feb 2005, we averaged around 500 GB a month
Mar 2005: 800 GB
Apr 2005: 1160 through the 22nd
We've added a dedicated server to host the mods and downloads. Thanks to the Pacific Aces mod that came out as a donation download last year, we are able to afford the extra costs. If you are any modders have any ideas on how we can create a new revenue stream, be sure to e-mail me
subsim@subsim.com
thanks! |

I have no idea how to upload something for you to post, so I tried your email address at houston and it didn't work, so I then tried to send it to deepdomain. I have not had it returned yet, so I'm hoping it gets to you. It relates to a handy 8 1/2 x 11 shortcuts. I had to make it because I was unable to read the small print that came with the game and the fold-out keyboard is cumbersome. Thanks, Robert |
