Why would I pay full price to download this great looking sim (and have no disk or printed documentation) when I can go to my local best buy or circuit city, pay the same price, and get a disk with the docs? Not trying to be negative here, you guys are great and have been for years, I just seems to me that a downloaded version of a program should be cheaper is all. I mean its gotta cost you less to distribute on Steam than it does in a big box store, so can't you share the love a little and knock the price down $10 or so? By the way, I've all ready decided that I'm going to purchase the sim, its just that $40 is pretty steep for my budget (I'm a bargain bin gamer) and I want to have something to hold in my hand for my money! |

I concur sir, I would think Steam would be more suited for someone in like Puerto Asis, Colombia, where you would have a snowball's chance in hell to find the boxed game |

That's interesting logic, considering that DW is worth the price, given that its really three simulators in a single package with a playable life of around 2-3 years, given the community's committment to expansions, upgrades, and online multiplayer groups and resources.
Also, regarding digital distribution, while it does save some of the costs of having traditional materials associated with it, in many cases the development costs added by adapting the code to work on a system such as Steam overcome the savings of digital distribution.
I think in the case of product such as DW, Steam should not be looked at as a "cheaper alternative" to ordering it in hardcopy, but rather another distribution option for people who prefer to download the game and play it in an established multiplayer community such as Steam.
So, it only costs too much if you expect it to be cheaper than it is... which as you know, is circular logic. |

One of the other benifits of Steam, is that there is no media to lose .
Once you have registered on Steam and purchased your game, you can download it whenever you want, so reinstalls are possible via internet connection. |

With STEAM you can also "Right-Click" on the Game you want to play if you have more than one and back that up to CD/DVD or another drive. Then rerun the executable that it creates and it will reinstall the game. I have not tried this but from reading you would also need to reload STEAM .

One happy steam user. No problems at all and great game!
(I took the option to back it up to another HDD for safekeeping)
