1-Ok, I have been playing Sub command. Special senarios that i download for the stock subs work, but the ones with the subs like the Alpha dont. I do use the playable sub changer, and it still doesnt work.

2-i was wondering, some subs like the typhoon, have 2 different things in the playable sub changer, do i pick one, both, or what?

To be honest its been quite some time since i installed SCX and SCU. Ill install them again tomorrow and let you know what exactly you need. to do.

The two units in SCU - one should have the [B] after it correct ?
These ones are the ballistic missile versions - and before you ask - no the player will not get to launch nukes.

ahh, or it could be there are 2 different versions (ie. pre 1960 and post 1960) different sensors etc etc.

It should all be in the readme (i think, somewhere lol)

Again, i'll double check for you

Start with a clean install and then start again with the scx stuff.Follow the stuff the read-me tells you to do then import the missions. My laptop is away being refitted at the moment and this is how I am going to re-install subcommand.
I never remember being able to launch balistic missiles,as none of the drivables allowed you to do this.

A human player can NOT lauch a ballistic missile.

It is possible to get the AI for fire one though (if the right unit is selected in the mission editor (ie a one with a [B] after it)).

There are other things that have to be done. Again ill remember/figure it out and let you know after the weekend.

Sorry for the delay, but my machine does really need formatted first Sad

@Greyfox, sorry about the delay. I hope this helps......

Install SC
Install 1.08 patch - run to make sure it works

Downloads

SCX II
SCX IIc
SCX IIc ESM Fix
SCX IIc Update

SCX Install

Run the SCX_Project_II.exe file and install SCX II
Once done (read the readme file) and then run the TWO .bat file

First one - Install_Graphics.bat
Can be found - C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Sub Command\Graphics

This installs all the required graphic files for SCX II
All the files that SCX II installed will be removed from this folder once the .bat file finishes as they are no longer needed.

WARNING - This will take a fair ammount of time. DO NOT close the DOS window that appears !!!!

Second one - Install_Loadout.bat
Can be found - C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Sub Command\Interfaces\AkulaII

This should only take a few seconds to install.

OK, this is SCX II now installed.

Check your install works. Probably the easiest way is to goto the USNI Reference option in game.
There should be loads more Countries in there now. Check through a few to make sure the graphics work ok.

Once your happy exit the game and time for the SCX IIc install.

SCX IIc Install

Run the SCX_Project_IIc.exe file to install SCX IIc.

Once the installer finishes, you again need to run a .bat file.

Install_Graphics.bat
Can be found - C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Sub Command\Graphics

This installs all the required graphic files for SCX IIc
All the files that SCX IIc installed will be removed from this folder once the .bat file finishes as they are no longer needed.

Again check you install works by running the game.

First thing you should notice is on the splash screen. A SCX logo is now on the bottom right.
Again, check out the USNI Reference menu to check the graphics.

Once happy, exit from the game.

At this point SCU can be set up.
The readme for this can be found
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Sub Command\SCU_Docs
in the SCU_Instructions.htm file.

Follow the instruction in there to install SCU.

Next is the ESM Fixes file.

Unzip this file into your C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Sub Command directory.
This will replace some files within the Bin and Database folders.

Nothing else to do with this file.

Run the game again and make sure things work ok.

Finally the SCX_IIc_Update.exe file

Download and run this file.

Once the installer finishes, you again need to run a .bat file.

USNI_Fixes.bat
Can be found - C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Sub Command\Graphics

Again, only a few seconds to install.

Finally check your game works ok (again).

And that is it all installed.

It has been a while since ive done all of this, so I may have got the last two parts the wrong way around Sad
I checked my install (as im typing this) and all seems ok, but you never know :hmm:

I don't recall having ever done the USNI_Fixes.bat and I don't have one in the graphics directory. However, SCXIIC/SCU seem to have been running fine.

Does it delete itself after running? Why would I be missing it?

Thanks.

The fixes bat file is only part of the SCX_IIc_Update.exe file.

As far as i remember it basically fixes a few USNI errors, plus matbe some other things (SCU related maybe).

Nope, the bat files all remain after running.
