In SH2 I mean? I've been trying to get the Upholder Bundle to run in SH2 without success. It seems to work fine in DC (though of course I don't sail with it). The American S Class sub seems to be working fine. I've not tried the Italians yet and I need to download Pacific Aces again but I'm really looking forward to trying the British U Class.

Thanks very much,
Mountbatten

Hi Mountbatten

The system to get the appearance of the Human usable unit is enough simple, and it is the same from us adopted in the mod Alpha Tau.

It is necessary to add to the database UnitsGE.db a line of code that contains the unity that you intend to use.
For example:

Ge,N,SS,U Class,NSSUClass,Unique,19400101,19460328,3568,n/a
Ge,N,SS,U Class,NSSUClass,Upholder,19400101,19460328,3569,n/a

Attention!
The code indicative of nationality has to be homogeneous to the nationality of the database.
In the database UnitsGe.db has to be "Ge."
The lines of code must be insert in orderly way, in according to an ascending progression and numbered in correct way.
For motives that are me unknown, the unity has to also be themselves in the database of reference, that is:

UnitsBr.db

Br,N,SS,U Class,NSSUClass,Unique,19400101,19460328,3568,n/a
Br,N,SS,U Class,NSSUClass,Upholder,19400101,19460328,3569,n/a

Ciao Mountbatten

UnitsBr.db

Br,N,SS,U Class,NSSUClass,Unique,19400101,19460328,3568,n/a
Br,N,SS,U Class,NSSUClass,Upholder,19400101,19460328,3569,n/a

Well, I had a previous version named upholder_v00.jrf that I got from one of the mods available in Internet, and that one worked fine.

I've checked this new installer and there are no extra TGA's, and the previous Upholder I have in my DC/SH2 definitely needed extra textures. Maybe that's the problem.

Yes there may be an alternative Upholder in circulation that uses an external TGA.

I created a new HiRes external texture for Upholder ( with Canarb's blessing) which involved slightly modifying the Upholder JRF. If, by any chance, you have this modified JRF but not the TGA then it will refuse to load.

I have both models - the 'bundle' with textures and the model all by itself. Does one cancel out the other? I just keep getting an RMaterials error. I hear you can't get the Japanese subs to work either?

Thanks Willi will try adding some 'traitor ships' to the German database hehehe.

Cheers,
Mountbatten

Okay I got one version - the sort of yellow greenish one w/c I guess is an earlier version - to work. The new one with the nice black paint scheme still gives me an Unknown something error with the RMaterials file or something.

Checking TGA's in my model folder, I think that some of the texture files needed for the "Dark Upholder" are:

GenUTTO.tga
GenUTTO_d.tga
U_TUTTO.tga
GenORRETTA_01.tga
GenORRETTA_01b.tga
GenORRETTA_01bd.tga

Check if you have them, though it may need some more that I couldn't identify. I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but my knowledge of these questions is almost nil. If you don't have them I can send them by mail if you want.

This is how the Upholder looks in my game:

Then I have this, which is the last version I downloaded (the one on canarb's site):

No idea of wheter it needs external textures or not.

Yes the grey version is the original Canarb model . It had the usual internal textures. The dark blue Upholder was my later development and had several external textures. It was released with a British periscope station. As a final refinement Sergbuto added his improved wakes and I added the ID number on the side ( which incidently you can change to whatever number you want by reading the instructions in the Readme )

There was this thread about a year ago.( including many pics)

@Mountbatten
I’ve checked back and the original Upholder bundle download had a texture missing . It may be that you still have this and didn’t see the update. The full bundle with all updates and corrections can be found at :-

http://www.amberphotography.co.uk/navalsite/Downloads/Upholder/Upholderbundle_2.0.zip

It includes :-
Horsa external dark blue textures
Horsa British Persicope station
Sergbuto wakes

Thanks Horsa I'll give it a shot. I think the model is the problem as I got the green one to work.

Mountbatten

Edited: And sure enough that did the trick! Funny though, the one that wasn't working well seemed to work okay in DC. Anyways, thanks very, very, very much Horsa.

Don't suppose you'd still be interested in doing a British sub campaign?
